Daily lunch: In each school, the 40 most undernourished pupilsin Grades 1 and 2 are provided with lunch for 136 days, from July toMarch.

Parent involvement: Parents of BLT pupils are trained byLocal Implementing Partners in food preparation and budgeting sothat they can apply these not only in school but also at home.

Stakeholder engagement: In each site, Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF) and its Local ImplementingPartners (LIPs) facilitate community ownership of BLT by working with school officials, PTA members, localgovernment, and community volunteers in implementing and sustaining the program.

Employee Volunteering: In BLT sites where Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) stores are present, JFCemployees serve as JGF’s ambassadors by conducting Food Safety seminars for BLT parents and monitoringBLT implementation.

Significance: More than 80% of pupils gain NormalBody Mass Index (BMI) level after the feeding cycle. Resultslikewise show improvement in attendance and academicperformance among BLT pupils.

Sustainability: Beyond the initial assistance of JGF, BLTbecomes a permanent feeding activity through the financial andin-kind support from local government units, individuals andorganizations.

Scaling-up: BLT’s simple, affordable and measurablemodel allows for easy replication and scaling-up in more areas.From the initial eight (8) pilot schools in 2007, BLT now coversover 1,100 schools in school year 2013-2014 and has fedmore than 100,000 pupils nationwide.
