From the Pastor’s Desk

As I write this week’s article, new windows are being installed on the west side of All Saints Academy (the side that faces the church). The windows are energy efficient and much more aesthetically pleasing than the old ones. It looks as if our school is getting a much-needed facelift on that side of the building. The funding for this project came from two sources. First of all, there has been a dedicated team of parents, staff, and faculty who have organized a number of fundraisers over the past two years. They have sold cupcakes at choir concerts, hosted fish fries during Lent, and coordinated the Food Truck Event in the spring. These efforts, among others, have been done in the name of our “Cool the School Campaign,” the goal of which is not only to replace the windows in our building but also to install air conditioning in our classrooms one day. Thanks go to all of our parishioners who have donated to “Cool the School” and to those who have joined us for our various fundraisers. The second source of funding for the new windows came from a grant from the Catholic Foundation. We published in the bulletin our appreciation for the foundation’s support several months ago when we were first awarded the grant. However, I think it is worth repeating our gratitude now that the windows are being installed. We would have had to sell a lot more cupcakes without the Catholic Foundation’s help! An additional project underway on campus is the installation of our new church sign. It will be located in the same location as the old sign but turned ninety degrees for better visibility. The sign will have space for changeable letters, allowing us to put in customized messages as often as we like (much like the current sign at All Saints Academy). My hope is that people will see our new sign, as well as the overall beauty of our campus, and be attracted to this community of faith. This sign is part of our efforts to help others find Christ and his Church.

Desde el Escritorio del Párroco Al escribir el artículo de esta semana, se están instalando ventanas nuevas en lado oeste de All SAints Academy (el lado que da a la Iglesia). Las ventanas son eficientes en energía y mucho más estéticas que las ventanas viejas. Parece que nuestra escuela se está viendo mucho mejor en ese lado del edificio. Los fondos para este proyecto vinieron de dos fuentes. Primero que nada, ha habido un equipo de papás, empleados, y maestros muy dedicado que ha organizado varias recaudaciones de fondos durante los últimos dos años. Han vendido cupcakes en los conciertos de coros, organizaron las ventas de pescado frito e la Cuaresma, y coordinaron la venta carros de comida en la primavera. Estos esfuerzos, entro otros, se han hecho en nombre de la campaña “Cool the School”, la meta no es solamente reemplazar las ventanas de nuestro edificio, sino instalar aire acondicionado en nuestros salones algún día. Please call the office by Monday, June 29, if you would like to join our seminiarian, Ed Shikina, in his five-week look at “Love is Our Mission: The Family Fully Alive.” The group wil meet on Thursdays from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., beginning on July 9. The cost of the study will be $10 and refrehsments will be provided each evening. (This event is in English.) We are looking for more parishioners to sign up for Eucharistic Adoration. We have Adoration of the Blessed

Sacrament every Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Are you able to commit to being with the Lord each Friday? For thirty or sixty minutes? If so, your help would be greatly appreciated. Please contact the office to let us know. (This event is bilingual.) Registration for Parish School of Religion (PSR) and the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) has begun. We ask that

all first through eighth graders of the parish who do not attend a Catholic school participate in PSR. Adults who would like to receive Baptism, First Communion, and/or Confirmation in the Church are encouraged to join the RCIA. For more information, please call the parish office (614-237-0401). All Saints Academy Catholic School

Did you notice? The windows for the west side of the school are here! We can now see the fruit of our labor! Christ the King Church should be very proud of the support given to All Saints Academy and our “Cool the School Campaign.” All Saints is an extension of Christ the King. Together we educate the most diverse population of any east side school. We are helping to guide our young people into a productive adulthood while teaching them the Catholic faith. The school is still in need of more windows, which will require further financial support. Please consider becoming a member of the “$1000 Club.” Making a donation of $1000 or more will mean a place for your name, your family’s name, or a loved one’s name in the school gym. This will be a way to improve our school and honor a legacy of your choice. If you are unable to give $1000, please know that any donation would be welcome. May the Lord bless you for your constant prayers and support for our students, faculty, and staff.

Catholic environment to watch the fireworks. (This event is bilingual.) St. Stephen’s Community House’s Annual BRAVO! For the Children event will be held on Saturday, July 18, at St. Charles Preparatory School. The BRAVO! event helps support the vital
