From the Pastor’s Desk

Liturgically, we are celebrating the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity this weekend. We do not believe in three different Gods; we worship one God that is threefold. Love is the key to understanding (to the extent that we are able) this mystery. Saint Augustine said that wherever there is love, there is a type of trinity: a lover, a beloved, and a fountain of love. God the Father is the Lover, God the Son is the Beloved, and God the Holy Spirit is the Fountain of Love. To put it another way: God is not solitude, but rather an infinite, eternal communion of Love. This Tuesday, June 13, we celebrate the Feast of Saint Anthony of Padua. He is one of most venerated saints in the history of the Church – the patron of lost things, no less! Regarding the Most Holy Trinity, he once commented: “The Lord Himself clearly indicates the unity of divine substance and Trinity of Persons when he says: ‘Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations. Baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.’ He said precisely, ‘in the name,’ and not ‘in the names,’ to indicate the unity of substance. And he said, ‘of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,’ indicating three names, which clearly point to the plurality of persons.” The fact of the matter is that, through baptism, we have been invited to share in the love of the Most Holy Trinity – for a short time here on earth and, later, forever in heaven. I want to encourage you to develop your relationship with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each divine person uniquely draws us into the dynamic exchange of Love that is our God. Let me conclude on a much less theological note. I would be remiss not thank in a public way those who helped make this weekend’s Rummage Sale a success. It takes no little effort to organize such an event. Much of the credit should be given to Tim and Anita Foley and their dedicated crew. I also want to thank those who donated and/or purchased items. By doing so, you have helped support the mission of Christ the King! May the Lord bless you throughout the week.

The Sisters’ Corner

The Sisters would like to invite everyone to stop by the vestibule after all Masses next weekend for refreshments as we celebrate Father’s Day. (This event is Bilingual.) The Sisters will be having a special gathering for fathers and their families next Sunday after the 12:30 p.m. Mass in the church basement. Ms. Amy Bittner will be available for free legal counsel in the church vestibule this Monday, June 12, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Ms. Bittner deals primarily with issues pertaining to immigration. (This event is in Spanish.) In preparation for the Feast of Corpus Christi, there will be Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament this Thursday, June 15, through Saturday, June 17, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the convent. Next Sunday, June 18, after all Masses, we will have a

procession with the Blessed Sacrament from the church to the school lawn.

Desde el Escritorio del Párroco

Litúrgicamente estamos celebrando la solemnidad de la Santísima Trinidad. No creemos en tres dioses diferentes; adoramos a un Dios que es tres en uno. El amor es la clave para entender (hasta donde nuestra capacidad alcanza) este misterio. San Agustín dijo que donde hay amor hay un tipo de trinidad: alguien que ama, alguien que es amado, y una fuente de amor. Dios Padre es el que Ama, Dios Hijo es el Amado, y Dios Espíritu Santo es la Fuente del Amor. Dicho de otro modo, Dios no es soledad, sino una comunión infinita y eterna del Amor.

Este martes, 13 de junio, celebramos la fiesta de San Antonio de Padua. Él es uno de los santos más venerados en la historia de la Iglesia (¡el patrón de las cosas perdidas!). for “Of Gods and Men,” a terrific movie based on the true story of Trappist monks who were martyred in Algeria in 1993. The film touches upon several themes, including the beauty of the monastic life, the humanity of a martyr, and Catholicism’s relationship to Islam. At the end of the movie, we will have a short discussion. Snacks will be provided by parish council for your enjoyment. Note: the film is rated PG-13 and is not suitable for young children. All Saints Academy Catholic School

All Saints Academy is now on Summer Break. In June, we are open 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. In July we are closed. In August, we are open 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The first day of school is August 23.

Congratulations to our principal, Mrs. Laura Miller, for being awarded the Most Valuable Principal Award for the state of Ohio for the Ohio School Nutrition Association. She has been invited to attend the award ceremony on Wednesday, June 14, to accept her award.

The cafeteria wants to thank Mrs. Kathy Robinson for her service to the kitchen and school. She will no longer work for All Saints Academy cafeteria, beginning August 1. We are looking to replace her position with a new employee. The hours are part time from 7:00 a.m. until noon, Monday through Friday.
