From the Pastor’s Desk

I have good news for the parish. We are going to add more time for confessions each week. Beginning on September 12, confessions will be offered at 8:15 p.m. every Tuesday. Parishioners can go to confess in English or Spanish. The priest will stay in the confessional until all confessions are heard. Tuesday night confessions will be an addition to our current schedule. We will still offer confessions in English and Spanish at 5:00 p.m. on Fridays, confessions in English at 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays, and confessions in Spanish after the Spanish Masses on the first Saturday and first Sunday of the month. If you have not been to confession in several months (or several years), God’s mercy awaits you in the sacrament of Reconciliation. The process is easy: 1) Review an examination of conscience. You can find a Catholic examination of conscience on the internet or at a Catholic bookstore. 2) Make a list of your sins, preferably on a piece of paper. 3) Take your list of sins into the confessional. Tell the priest how long it has been since your last confession. Confess your sins to the priest. Let the priest also know approximately how many times you committed each sin (for example: one time, several times, repeatedly). 4) Listen to the priest’s advice and say an Act of Contrition. If you do not know the Act of Contriction, the priest will help you with that. 5) Do the penance that was given to you by the priest (for example: three Our Fathers). May the Lord bless you throughout the week.

The Sisters’ Corner

All families of the parish are invited to a retreat titled “Encuentro con la Palabra” on Saturday, September 2, and Sunday, September 3. The retreat will run from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. both days. Parish News

This Friday, September 1, we will have a special Holy Hour for Immigrants beginning at 9:00 p.m. We will offer prayers on behalf

of the immigrants and refugees throughout the world. The women of the parish will then have the opportunity to remain in the church for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until 6:00 a.m. the following morning. (This event is in Spanish.) Christ the King will continue English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to our community in the fall, and we are seeking volunteer English teachers. Training, teaching materials, and on-

going assistance will be provided. The classes will be held every Thursday at the Bishop Griffin Center, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m, or 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. If interested, please contact Deacon Pete Labita or call the parish office. Are you interested in learning English? Sign up for ESL classes!

There will be registration and placement exams for new students on Thursday, August 31, and Thursday, September 7, at 6:00 p.m. in the Bishop Griffin Center. Please arrive on time in order to complete your exam. There will be no childcare available, so children must remain at home with a sitter. English classes will be held every Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Attendance at every class is necessary. The cost is $35 and is due at the first class.

We welcome the ladies of the parish to participate in a free "Walking With Purpose" Bible Study called Touching the Divine.

This is an eight week course which focuses on the qualities of Jesus as revealed through the Gospel of John. Getting to know Christ more intimately will deepen our relationship with Him. His love is the true satisfaction for our souls. The first class is Thursday, September 14, at 10:00 a.m. in the church basement. All Saints Academy Catholic School

Hello from All Saints Academy School! We began our 2017-2018 school year on Wednesday, August 23. It was an awesome day! We welcome our new teachers: Ms. Hessler, who is teaching grade 6; Mrs. Davis, who is teaching grade 2; Mrs. Ingle who is teaching Kindergarten; and Mrs. Mogan who is teaching music to grades 5-8. As far as the staff is concerned, we welcome Mrs. Jenkins and Mrs. Aeling who are working in the office, as well as Mrs. Medrano who is working in the cafeteria. We are very grateful that Christ the King Church is so supportive of All Saints Academy. Please continue to pray for us. Also, please remember to respect the traffic cones in the morning, as they help keep our kids safe from cars and buses every day.
