LITTLE THINGS This weekend we mark the First Sunday of Advent. Historically, Advent, much like Lent, has been considered a penitential season. While technically it still is a time of penance, Advent is significantly less rigorous than the season of Lent and generally has little impact, I think, on the life and practice of most Catholics. Advent is, to be frank, not a very big deal. It is my hope that Advent’s small-time nature excites you. The God of the bible has a remarkable tendency to choose the small, the unassuming, and the ordinary for his greatest works. He cured Naaman the Syrian with the humble, muddy Jordan river. He chose the Corinthians, St. Paul tells us, because they were of weak and of humble birth. And he became incarnate, even he, the Lord of the Universe, as a little child in the most humble of circumstances. Take advantage of this principle. Do not let this time go to waste. Advent is a humble season. Therefore, God delights in using it for great things. Sincerely in Christ, Fr. Matthew Crane November 30, 2014 First Sunday of Advent Pastoral Staff…………….……….Fr. LITTLE THINGS

This weekend we mark the First Sunday of Advent.
