Sent With Love To You!
One Day at a Time Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” – Psalm 119:105
I learned a lot about the 12 Step Program of Recovery during my years as a Chaplain
at Valley Hope. Those who are unfamiliar with the program might be surprised to
learn that much more emphasis is placed on our relationship with God than is placed
on the substance a person is dealing with. In fact, the first half of step one is the only
step that even mentions drugs or alcohol (or whatever the addiction might be). Most
of the program is directed toward three goals that are incredibly important for
ANYONE who is interested in going deeper in their relationship with God:
1) Seek God’s help to remove the things in our life that separate us from Him;
2) Get close and STAY close to God (who is our source of power and peace);
and, 3) Get better at letting God direct EVERY aspect of our life.
The program prescribes Five daily actions to help us accomplish these goals:
1) Review our day before we go to bed – consider successes & shortcomings;
2) Ask God to forgive mistakes and show us what we SHOULD do;
3) Upon waking ask God to direct our thoughts throughout the day;
4) Read our daily devotion and pray for God’s guidance; and,
5) When we get agitated or doubtful (during the day)
pause and ask God for the right thought or action.
Every one of these actions is powerful in and of itself. When they are combined and
practiced they become a life-changing means of communication with our Creator.
I am very excited about this brand new year and all of the possibilities it brings! I am
reminded, however, that we must seek to follow God’s direction (in every aspect of
our lives) if we want to fully experience all of these possibilities. The outline of daily
actions listed above has helped millions of people find freedom, peace and a deeper
relationship with God. I can attest to their effectiveness in my own life as well.
I would like to invite you to give these a try – every day for just one week.
I think you will be amazed at what God reveals to you – one day at a time…
In Christ, Pastor Matt

Care Cards
Care for one another… 1 Corinthians 12:25
Are you missing someone on Sundays?
Do you know of someone who has been ill or had surgery?
Have you noticed a church member has become inactive?
Take some time and give them a quick phone call and maybe a visit…
Follow your heart in caring for others.
Care Cards are available in the pew and at the Connection Center to update
the church office or request Pastor Matt to contact someone special in your
life.
Food for Thought… In biblical days, our ancestors spent many hours each week in fellowship
learning God’s Word together.
50 years ago, Wednesday nights and Sundays were recognized as church
time. This allowed opportunity for fellowship and Bible study for all ages.
Today, non-church activities (work, sports, etc.) can be any day of the week,
any time of the day.
When is there time for Bible study, fellowship & worship?
The Children & Youth Ministry has some great programming in place.
However, due to scheduling conflicts not everyone can attend the Sunday
morning classes on a regular basis. Our team will be sending out an online
survey to parents of our children and youth asking for their input for
additional/alternative times and activities that would make it possible for us to
better serve the needs of our children and youth.
We believe God wants all of us to share His Word with all His children.
For anyone wanting to be a part of this ministry, please stop by the information
counter on Sunday morning to explore the opportunities available.
