Testimonies of God's faithfulness in our ministry in Peru.TRANSCRIPT
Therefore Go…
November/ December 2015
Hi there
I must say that this last month has been quite a month! It has been
somewhat scary at times, but in it all we have seen God’s
faithfulness and protection and for that we are thankful.
Three weeks ago, we decided to go for a drive and explore some
of the dirt roads around Andahuaylillas. As we came down one of
the hills, we didn’t see a ditch and Jaime lost control of the car. We
ended up hanging off the side of the bank, with the car literally a few degrees away from flipping
over. Thankfully we managed to climb out of the car without it slipping or flipping. Some local
farmers tried to help us unsuccessfully and so the four of us ended up walking 12km to the nearest
town. Again, thankfully it didn’t rain and the walk was all downhill. The kids were amazing and
eventually we got to the town and cell phone reception and were able to call a tow truck.
Thankfully the tow managed to get our car out ok. It ended up being a bit of an expensive outing,
but still, with much to be thankful for.
The following week I found a tarantula outside our lounge door, a black widow spider on the
pavement and a scorpion in our bathroom. Kai loves bugs, so I have very quickly had to teach him
which ones are for playing with and which ones he has to run away from. Once again, we are
thankful we saw the bugs first.
Thank you for keeping our family in prayer! These last few weeks I really have been so aware of
how God’s hand of protection on our lives.
Christmas in Cusco...
This last Satuday Jaime travelled with the youth from
church to hold a Christmas party for the children of the
Chacllabamba community, a small village about four
hours from Cusco. The school where they help the party is
very remote and in order to get there the youth had to
hike a bit and cross a river.
The youth had organised a number of dances, skits and
games for the kids, as well as the traditional Peruvian hot
chocolate and Paneton loaf. Each child was also given a
gift at the end of the day.
Jaime said that there must have been about 100 children
there, not including the moms and babies. It was an
incredible opportunity to show this community the love of
Christ and to remind them that God has them on His heart
this Christmas.
With Christmas fast approaching we have a number of special events
planned through which we hope to share God’s love with our neighbours and
community.
Last Friday I met with the ladies in our cell group to have a Christmas cookie
baking bonanza. All in all we must have baked and iced around 280
Christmas cookies. The purpose of the cookies was to give them as gifts to our
neighbours who don’t know Christ trusting that they would be a small
demonstration of His love for them and an opportunity to build a bridge of
relationship.
On Saturday our cell group will also be
working together to put on a special Christmas party for the
Josephine House orphanage. I have been tasked with
putting on a puppet show for the children. Please trust with
me that through the puppet show I will be able to
communicate clearly that Jesus is the most important part
of Christmas.
This Sunday we will be having a special combined Christmas Service, with the Quechua and
Spanish church services. Our little Sunday School class has been working hard to prepare a little
drama and song for the day. They will be acting to the song, “Away in a Manger” and then
singing “Gloria in excelsius Deo”. I must admit it
has been quite exhausting try to get the
children to cooperate and to sing, but when
they do, they really do so, most wholeheartedly.
Please pray that they will do well this Sunday
and that most of all seeds will be planted in their
hearts regarding the true meaning of Christmas.
Jesus el Buen Pastor Church...
Just three weeks to go and the Ruiz Caro family will be touching down on
South African soil!!!! After two years of not having been “home” I am
longing to be back, to see my dear friends and family and to eat some
good South African food.
On the evening of Saturday 23rd January we will be having a special get
together at my parent’s home for all those who partner with us in ministry. I
will be sending an invite shortly, but please set aside the date. We really
would love to see you!
Regarding my citizenship, I have yet to have any feedback from Home
Affairs. Please continue to trust with me for a miracle that I will be allowed to
keep my South African Citizenship.
I would like to ask you also to keep our journey to South Africa in your prayers. We have a very long
trip back, with significant stop overs in Sao Paolo and Johannesburg. Please pray that the children
will travel well, that all our luggage will arrive and that we won’t have any hassles at immigration or
at any other point of the trip.
Finally, on behalf of Jaime, Kai and Zoe, I would like to wish you and your dear ones a most
wonderful Christmas. May this special time of year be filled with precious memories and the joy of
the Lord. Thank you for so faithfully partnering with us this last year. We have had some incredible
moments and some challenges, but through it all you have stood with us and made our ministry
here in Cusco possible. May God honour your
generosity and abundantly bless you I this
coming year!
Much love, Kim
