Dear Friends in Jesus Christ, Traditionally, the Fourth Sunday of Lent is called Rejoice Sunday. Anticipating Easter joy, today’s readings invite us to rejoice by being reconciled with God through repentance and confession of our sins and by celebrating our coming home to be with our loving and forgiving God. As we have only few weeks to celebrate the Easter, and as we go through many kinds of preparation for the greater
celebration of the Easter, we are also called to prepare ourselves by reconciling with God and one another. Therefore, we have scheduled the penance service on 15th of April on Monday evening by 6.00 pm. So, let us make use of it. Here are some reflections for us to meditate. “The greatest security against sin is to be shocked at its presence." Thomas Carlyle "Sin has four characteristics: self-sufficiency instead of faith; self-will instead of submission; self-seeking instead of benevolence; self-righteousness instead of humility." E. Paul Hovey "It is much easier to repent of sins that we have committed, than to repent of those we intend to commit." Josh Billings "Sin. Rub out the first and last letters, and you have "I"--or carnal self--the root of all sin." Anonymous "Sin is man's declaration of independence of God." Anonymous Sincerely, Fr Joseph

Have you picked up your CRS Rice Bowl yet? (Available at all church entrances) God invites us to reach out beyond ourselves and encounter the needs of all. This Lent, CRS Rice Bowl—Catholic Relief Services’ Lenten faith-in-action program—reminds us that the journey through the desert ultimately leads to resurrection, and that it is our Gospel call to share the hope of the Resurrection with those most in need. Visit www.crsricebowl.org for more information.
40 Days for Lent—All are invited to join with the St. Mary group to say the rosary any time between 4PM and 8PM in the public right-of-way outside of: PLANNED PARENTHOOD, 4201 West Michigan Avenue, Kalamazoo, Michigan. For further information, please call Vince Cabras 269-447-8288.

Knightly News—The Knights of Columbus will be holding a drive after each Mass April 6 and 7. People are telling us they were never asked to join when we ask them “why aren't you a knight?” I will solve that problem right now. Any of you men 18 and over, Catholic, single or married, light or heavy, would you like to join the Knights of Columbus? The week-end of April 6th and 7th you will be able to: 1: sign a list that you would like us to call and give you further information 2: fill out an application form for membership 3: stop at the table to have any of your questions answered I pray that you will give some thought to joining the Knights and don’t forget it is about family also. Ask the Knights’ wives and children how they see the benefits being part of the Knights of Columbus. PGK Blaine Douglas
Catholic Charities—Diocese of Kalamazoo is seeking a new President/CEO. God is drawing a visionary leader to this position. Join a diocesan-wide prayer campaign, asking God to bring the faithful Catholic leader He has chosen, filled with: leadership, vision, virtue and determination.
