Thomas M. Nies

President, Cincom Systems, Inc.

Thomas M. Nies holds a bachelors degree from the University of Cincinnati and an MBA in finance, also from U. C. His experience in the computer field began in 1962 when he joined IBM

Corporation, a company for which he held numerous technical and marketing positions. In 1968, Mr. Nies left IBM and went to Cincom Systems. He serves as president

of Cincom, a leader in the software industry. Cincom has over 1200 employees, seventy-seven marketing and service locations, and nine research and development centers around the world. Cincom Systems has almost 6000 customers using almost 20,000 Cincom products worldwide, and is the largest investor in research and development in the software industry. President Reagan, during his recent visit to Cincinnati, recognized Mr. Nies as

an outstanding example of the entrepreneurial spirit in American business.

Milton J. Schloss

Retired Chairman of the Board, Kahn's

Milton J. Schloss began his career at Kahn's in 1927 as a summer employee. He joined the company full-time in 1937, and, in 1948, was elected president.

Mr. Schloss served as chairman of Kahn's from 1960 until his retirement last November. He also served as a member of the board of directors and executive vice president of Consolidated Foods, parent company to Kahn's. He also is a member of the board of directors of the Ohio National Life Insurance Company. The retired corporate executive attended Cincinnati public schools and the

University of Michigan where he was graduated with honors. He also holds a law degree from the University of Cincinnati and received the Order of Coif honor at his graduation.

After his retirement from Kahn's he joined the business faculty at the University of Cincinnati as an adjunct professor.

Mr. Schloss and his deceased wife Mary T. Schloss have been active supporters of Cincinnati Technical College for several years. Mr. Schloss has sponsored several Kahn's scholarships to CTC students.

Dr. Nolen M. Ellison

President, Cuyahoga Community College

Dr. Nolen M. Ellison, president of Cuyahoga Community College, in Cleveland, since 197 4, graduated from Kansas State University in 1963 and holds a doctoral degree in administration and higher education from Michigan State University. At the age of 31, he became the youngest college president in the state of

Washington and one of the youngest in the United States. Two years later, he was selected as one of the "Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Year" by the U. S. Junior Chamber of Commerce. In 1981, he received Phi Delta Kappa' s award as one of 7 5 outstanding educational leaders in the United States and the Freedom Award from the NAACP.

Dr. Ellison serves on an impressive list of boards, including AmeriTrust Bank Corp. , the College Entrance Examination Board, the National Institute of Education and the Council on World Affairs. He has been identified by the U.S. Department of Education and U. S. Department of Justice as an educational expert dealing with broad urban educational issues as well as with those relating to desegregation of American higher education. He also served for three years as a member of the President' s National Advisory Committee on Higher Education and Black Colleges and Universities. In September, 1982, he was appointed executive director of the Putting

America Back to Work Task Force, a national human resources development project of the American Association of Community and Junior Colleges.

ECUMENICAL PRAYER

Give us open minds, 0 Lord, minds ready to receive and to welcome new light of knowledge as may be revealed to us. Let not the past ever be so dear to us as to set limits to the future. Give us courage to change our minds, when that is needed. Let us be tolerant to the thoughts of others and receptive to such awareness as may come to us through them. May we be human channels through which love and compassion may reach the hearts and lives of those nearest to us.
