Our cities and country have poor

systems to manage 2 lakh tons of

waste per day.

90% of our resources can be

recovered instead of dumped.

What is Zero Waste?

Our country has poor systems to

manage 2 lakh tons of waste per day.

90% of resources can be recovered

from our waste.

Problem = Opportunity

Rules and Regulations

All waste generators MUST segregate waste at source

No waste shall be burned or dumped in public areas

Bulk waste generators MUST segregate and handle their waste by themselves or through an

empanelled vendor

BBMP defines bulk waste generators as any commercial entity generating over 10kgs of waste a

day and residential complex having more than 50 residential units

If there is no space constraint, bulk waste generators are required to process biodegradable waste

onsite

Different streams of waste have specific identified end destinations (such as recycling, co-

processing, bio-methanation etc.) to reduce the amount of waste going to landfills

Waste management rules in Bengaluru mandate:

End-to-end decentralized management of multiple waste streams

Leverage technology and data to enable greater traceability of

waste

Compliance to relevant waste management and labour laws

Professional, transparent, and reliable services

Create safe and dignified careers for women at BoP

Ethical business practices

Minimize GHG emissions due to extraction of virgin resources by

enhancing recycling rates and by prevention of open burning and

dumping.

We are building a circular economy to preserve

and extend the life of our resources – creating

smarter, cleaner, and more efficient cities
