CITB-ConstructionSkills NI has an annual Grant Scheme in place to assist with the cost of qualifications and training undertaken by you and your employees. The grants budget is set annually each year and is based on levy income. Example A If you employ an apprentice through to the completion of their apprenticeship at NVQ Level 2, Level 3 and their DEL Apprenticeship NI Certificate then currently you can claim a total grant of £3,050. 1 Example B If you renew an operatives Registration Scheme CSR card then you can claim up to £50 per person per day for the Health & Safety training. 1. As an Industry Training Board and Sector Skills Council our role is to encourage the adequate training of those employed or intending to be employed in the construction industry and improving the skills and productivity of the industry in Northern Ireland. 2. CITB-ConstructionSkills, CIC and CITB-ConstructionSkills Northern Ireland areworking as ConstructionSkills, the Sector Skills Council for Construction.

Mobile Training Unit,a mobile classroomthat seats up to 20people and can alsofacilitate smallernumbers. This Unit delivers short duration health andsafety awareness training at any site in NI.

Health and Safety Advisory Booklets for a range ofthe construction occupations are currently availableand include Roofing, Painting & Decorating, Joinery,Bricklaying, Plastering andGeneral ConstructionOperative.

Health & Safety Blueprintlisting recommended healthand safety training for alloccupations in theconstruction industry.

Access our trainingdirectory online and freepublications such as ourLabour Market Intelligence Reports fromour website.

4. How do I register?All you have to do is complete an Annual ReturnForm and provide information on your wages bill forLabour Only Sub Contractors (LOSC) and Pay AsYou Earn (PAYE) employees. You can do this viaour website at www.citbcsni.org.uk or by postby requesting an Annual Return Form throughour Training Operations Support team on028 9082 5466.

5.What is the levy?We are authorised to collect a levy from the NIconstruction industry through legislation to fund arange of products and services including grantsthat are aimed to encourage training. This is doneannually on receipt of the Annual Return form.

The levy system is the fairest way of gatheringfunds from employers to pay for the training needsof the collective workforce.

6. How much levy will I have to pay?If your wages bill is below £80,000 then you don’thave to pay a levy, however you will be required tocomplete the Annual Return form on a yearly basis.By registering you will be entitled to all the benefitsavailable including access to our Grants Schemeand Mobile Training Unit even though you don'tpay a levy.

If your wages bill is £80,000 or above then you willpay a levy which is currently calculated at 0.6%1 ofyour total wages bill. For example, if your wages billis £80,000 then your levy will be calculated as£80,000 X 0.6% = £480

provide advice and guidance on Health and Safety issues relating to trade persons, managers and

professionals working in the Construction Industry. These publications are designed with the aim of

eliminating and reducing the risk of accidents, injury and ill-health.This poster is intended only as a guide for developing a training programme of adequate health & safety

for each of the construction occupations within your organisation. Companies are encouraged to provide

additional training on Risk Assessment & Risk Management, Tool Box Talks and Induction Training as

required.

Notes• Health in Construction - refers to health based training for employees such as drugs and alcohol abuse,

health checks, stress etc.•Working at Heights / Fall Arrest Equipment - Fall Arrest Equipment refers to Harness and Lanyard,

Netting and Air Bags• Asbestos - Operatives involved in removing Abestos require Specialist Asbestos Training

• First Aid Awareness - Please note Authorised First Aider requires 'First Aid at Work' Training
