如果我要用一個物件來比喻我對自己職業的期望，我會選擇用「火箭」來形容。

我覺得事業對我來說就如一個時鐘。儘管人生的路途上，有些人行得比較快，有些人行得比較慢，但只要我們好好把握每一分每一秒，相信總會找到自己的理想。

Career Development Program

就業發展計劃目的是提升學生的演講、領導和社交技巧，增強學生的就業和職場適應力，並鼓勵學生以國際視野培養生活興趣，提升思考和分析能力。

職業大使計劃是一項以職業為導向的培訓活動，於2019年開展。職業大使需完成一系列個人、專業和職業發展培訓，並為CityU SCOPE籌備和舉辦活動。 計劃實行以來，共有32位同學獲得了「職業大使計劃證書」。

The aims of Career Development Program are to develop students’ interpersonal skills, leadership

skills and presentation skills, enhance their employability and career adaptability, as well as nurture

their lifelong interest and critical thinking ability with a global perspective.

Career Ambassador Scheme, the signature of Career Development Program, is a career - oriented

program launched in 2019. The career ambassadors, upon completion of a series of personal,

professional and career development training workshops, are to organize and execute student

activities for CityU SCOPE. So far 32 students have been awarded the Career Ambassador Scheme

Certificate.

就職服務包括舉辦招聘日和現場面試，當中並為學生和僱主提供所需的資源。

就業支援中心提供廣泛的僱主支援服務，貼近僱主的需要，例如：職位發佈、挑選候選人、求職講座等，中心亦為同學促進不同工作機會，並提供模擬面試。

Recruitment Day and On-site job interviews are two major parts of the Employment Services provided

by the Student Career Support Centre, with abundant resources to fulfill the needs of the students

and employers.

Career Support Centre offers a wide range of employer support services such as job posting, career

talk, shortlisting candidates for employers, etc. The Centre also provides chances for students to

take part in internship on top of Part-time and Full-time job opportunities. Mock interviews are also

arranged for students interested.

就業支援中心設立網站，為學生提供全職、兼職和實習工作的資訊。職業資源角位於城市大學本部及尖沙咀分部，學生可以借閱有關事業規劃、職業探索、管理和領導技能的書籍和雜誌。 於兩所校園內，學生亦可參與各類與就業支援及輔導有關的活動。

Career Support Centre provides students with information about internship, full-time and part-time jobs on

a website. The two Career Resources Corners are located on the CityU campus and in the TSTE Learning

Centre respectively, from which students can borrow books and magazines about career planning and career

exploration, as well as management and leadership skills. The Outreach Service – Career Chit Chat Booth

will also be held on both campuses for providing students with career information and support.

Life is an ongoing process of actively engaging oneself in pursuit of success.

From the very first day being a CityU SCOPE student, I have had the feeling that BA(Hons)Applied Social Sciences is my favorite program for which I would devote my energy, effort and time.

To write up the last page of my story studying in CityU SCOPE, I would like to extend my immense gratitude to the teachers and staff who have inspired, supported, and guided me on the never-been-easy road to discover my true self. I have to thank my dearest friends who have kept me company over these three years for all the trials and tribulations we have together overcome.

A few words for the DSE ‘losers’ who might have failed the exam, uncertain about what you really want to do in the future. Failing to enter a prestigious university of course is never the end of the world. What matters most is your tenacity to explore the unknown, overcome the difficulties you are facing and most importantly be true to yourselves. There is always someone who is ready to help out as long as you step forward and ask.

The end of the chapter on CityU SCOPE opens me up to a new chapter in life I am looking forward to.

從我在Cit yU SCOPE學習社會科學的第一天起，就有預感我將會投入很多時間、精力和耐心來學習課程。

總結在Cit yU SCOPE的學習生涯，我要非常感謝一群全力支持並啟發我的老師；引導我發掘自己的才能，並時刻給 予我鼓 勵的教職員。最後 要感謝我最親愛的朋友們，他們陪伴我走過這段歲月，與我一起克服重重障礙和困難。

最後，我想鼓勵那些在DSE中失手，對自己的興趣或未來感到徬徨無助的人。未能考入大學不代表世界末日，人生更重要的是要學會面對真實的自己，探索未知的事物，並克服困難。如果你願 意作主 動，多踏前一步，總會有人願意為你提供援助。

今 年也許 是我的學習旅程的終點，但 這 還不是我 生命的最終站，相反，這是我新一章旅程的開始。

My DSE results three years ago were not good enough to make me admitted to a UGC funded university. Fortunately, the CityU SCOPE granted me another chance to continue my education at the tertiary level.

I completed the Diploma in International Degree Foundation Program before proceeding to BA (Hons) Business Administration and Management at De Montfort University. I made the most out of this second chance. I knew I was not the best but I was trying my best to work hard on my academic performance. I was on the Director’s List for two consecutive years and was awarded the SPSS Outstanding Performance Scholarship.

I participated in many extra-curricular activities which helped develop my leadership and communication skills, including Student Ambassador Program, Career Ambassador Program and the Leadership Development Scheme. These activities have not only enriched my university experience, but also paved well the path for my future career.

Teachers are always very supportive. Where else can I find teachers who are so ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed.

My expectation for the career path is more like a rocket than otherwise; it may take me to an unexpected somewhere, challenging and exciting. But I’m now well prepared. Thanks to CityU SCOPE.

3 年 前，我 的 公 開 試 成 績 未 如 理 想，因 此 無 法 通 過JUPAS進入政府資助的學位課程。

其後，我發現了有關CityU SCOPE的課程資料，立即把握機會，報名面試。

CityU SCOPE給我繼續接受高等教育的機會。

我決不浪費第二次機會。

我在CityU SCOPE完成了「國際學位基礎教育文憑課程」。然後順利考上了De Montfort University的工商管理（榮譽）文學士課程。

從那時起，我充分利用了這第二次機會，竭盡所能地學習，並 連 續兩年登上院長 嘉許名單，並獲得SPSS傑出表現獎學金。

在求學過程中，我參加了許多課外活動，如「學生大使計劃」、「職業大使計劃」和「領導力發展計劃」，不但改善我的領導和溝通技巧，更為Cit yU SCOPE作出貢獻。

這些課外活動帶給我各種技能，對將來投身社會十分合用，令我向夢想的職業更踏前一步。

每當我需要幫助時，這裡的教授們總是願意伸出援手，他們一直都很支持我。

謝謝CityU SCOPE。我相信我未來的事業會像“火箭”一樣，出發到一些無法預知的地方。

It was a valuable experience partaking in the Student Exchange Program for EICC in which I interacted and communicated in English with overseas students. I had a better understanding of different cultures and developed great friendship with the exchange students.

參加“國際英語主修科學生交流計劃”是一次寶貴的經驗。透過計劃，我以英語與交換生互動，對不同的文化有了更深刻的認識，並與他們建立了友誼。

The CityU SCOPE professors emphasize very much self-directed learning by which students should extend their learning outside the classroom. That’s why we have been offered plenty of overseas exchange opportunities, such as cultural learning trips and visits to UK universities. Via these activities, students benefit by learning from other cultures and have their language and communication skills picking up.

From cooperating with corporations to create internship opportunities, to organizing overseas exchange, the Career Support Centre encourages students to participate in various activities such as company visits, “Achiever” Training programs and career workshops. Students are motivated to reflect upon their future paths, discuss and research with their classmates in the library.

I have participated in CRE seminars where I have benefited a lot from teachers’ explanation of the examination process and answering techniques.

CityU SCOPE 的 professors 鼓勵學生自主學習，課堂以外時間亦要吸收知識，而非只依賴課堂學習。另外，亦提供海外交流，例如到訪英國作文化之旅，加強文化與語言學習的實地體驗。

通過與各大機構 / 公司合作，CityU SCOPE為學生提供面試及實習機會。同時，亦鼓勵同學參與海外交流，透 過 與 導 師 交 談、參 加 就 業 支 援 中 心 的 活 動，例 如 參觀、Achie ver t ra ining、工作坊等活動，令學生更有動力思考職業路向，課餘時間亦會與同學到圖書館搜集與職涯相關的資料。

此外，透 過參加公 務員 綜合招聘考試 講座（CRE），相關科系老師會講 解考試流程 及答 題技巧，這 些 都是不容易在書本裡學習到的知識呢！

就讀CityU SCOPE期間，學期初第一次功課做得不好, 但是老師會因應學生的程度，給予清晰的指導，鼓勵學生積極上課、主動求學。

這裡學習氛圍很好，同學之間會討論功課、互相幫助，這些都是因為老師營造了輕鬆、富有意思的課堂氛圍。有過第一次功 課 失 敗的經 歷，令 我 更 加知道自己的不足，更 想多學一點，令自己有進 步，緊記自己的目標 是來讀書而不是蹉跎歲月、得過且過的。

慢慢地，在CityU SCOPE老師的指導和帶領下，做功課一次比一次有信心。

因為老師用心授課，整個階段並不覺得迷茫、困惑，而是很有目標、很有動力的每一天上課，汲取新的知識。感恩自己當初報讀CityU SCOPE，才可以令我現時在小學擔任學校行政主任。正因為有這個大學學位，才可以令我繼續進修，報讀碩士課程。

多謝CityU SCOPE的老師，他們的正向指導令我進步。我認為學習是不能逼的，如果自己沒有求學意識，旁人也難以強逼。

而CityU SCOPE老師正正可以令同學在快樂的環境下求學，並能啟發大家能自主學習。

The first assignment in the first semester in CityU SCOPE was a disaster. But from that point onward, I learnt a great lesson and my assignments to come would only be better than otherwise. All gratitude to the teachers who are always patient and encouraging, providing tailor-made guidance to each individual student who comes to ask for help. With the captivating atmosphere created from the teachers, students have learnt to be amicable and there’s no short of camaraderie in the classroom.

My disastrous first assignment motivated me to push myself harder, a constant reminder of why I had made my choice to join the CityU SCOPE program. With the guidance of the teachers, I became more and more confident in each assignment I did. The teachers’ great passion also motivated me to learn with focus every day.

I am forever grateful that I made a right choice studying in CityU SCOPE. I am working as an Administrative Officer in a primary school, now that I have obtained a Bachelor’s degree and on the way to getting my Master’s.

I would like to extend my immense gratitude to the teachers in SCOPE for their very valuable guidance. I believe motivation is the key to learning. The SCOPE teachers have successfully constructed an amiable classroom where students are inspired to learn.

除了學業外，我會把握不同的機會去探索自我。我分別到過巴西參加義務工作，又獲Reaching Out Award去印尼體驗交流。CityU SCOPE是一個很好的平台，為我提供了個人及專業成長的機會。

In addition to my studies, I seized every opportunity to explore myself. I went to Brazil to do volunteer work and I joined an exchange trip to Indonesia as I participated in the “Reaching Out Award” Scheme. CityU SCOPE is a great platform, which has offered me opportunities for personal and professional growth.

I am grateful to have been enrolled in the BA (Hons) Business Administration and Management Programme and I graduated in 2017.

The program comprised of various modern business subjects which greatly stimulated my strategic thinking and widely opened my mind to learning related management skills.

As a part-time student, even though I might feel tired after work, I always enjoyed the time with the lecturer and my classmates in the classroom, where we shared our experiences and exchanged ideas as how to tackle business problems. A strong motivation was always there so that I could complete the program even though with great challenges.

I have been working on my current career path for more than 23 years. Insights from the program as well as from the new generation have greatly benefitted me. I must say I have reaped a great harvest from the BABAM program.

Before joining the programme of BSc (Hons) Information Technology for Business (ITB) in CityU SCOPE, I was an auditor after graduated from University of California San Diego. However, with a positive mindset, I was determined to change my career path and pursued the IT field for its tremendous potential and opportunities. Returned to University, I studied computer/business related degree in CityU SCOPE. It proved that I have made a correct decision that changed my life drastically.

As a newbie in the information technology, I fully devoted myself to the studies of computer software and hardware. The professors were knowledgeable with up-to-date information about this fast-changing world of technology. They taught us the business and coding knowledge of the bleeding-edge cloud technology. They also guided us how to manage Big Data information. Aside from the technical side, they taught us the latest Agile Project Management methodology. Most importantly, my classmates were very friendly, and we have built a strong network which helped greatly for the on-going development of my IT career path.

Being able to pick up techniques of programme development, system architects and project management within a short period of time, I have kicked off my IT career successfully. Now, I have joined one of the biggest System Integrator companies in Hong Kong and work on many multi-million-dollar IT projects immediately. This full-time programme in CityU SCOPE has been a great building block in my career path.

在入讀CityU SCOPE的商業資訊科技榮譽理學士課程之前，我從聖地亞哥加州大學畢業，然後成為了一名審計師。後來我決心改變自己的職業生涯，決定於資訊科技領域尋找機遇。決定重回校園後，我選擇修讀與電腦/商業相關學位。事實證明我的決定是正確的，而這個決定徹底改變了我的生活。

作 為科 技界的新手，我 致 力投 身於電 腦軟件和硬件的研究。這裡的老師知識豐富，準確地掌握日新月異的科技世界和最 新 資訊。他們 教 會了我 們有關雲端 技術的企業和編碼知識，還指導我們如何管理大數據。除了技術層面，他們還教導我們最新的敏捷式管理方案。最重要的是，我的同學非常友好，我們建立了深厚的人際網絡，這促進了我的IT事業發展。

2 0 1 2 年 修 畢 香 港 城 市 大 學 應 用 中 文 副 文 學 士 課 程(AC S)後 入讀香港 城市大學專業 進修學院國際商業傳意榮譽文學士課程。全職工作一年後，當時的上司鼓勵我 繼 續 進修，為未 來的發展做 更 充足的準備。2013畢業後首先 從事 物業管 理 工作，經常需要 與業 主 立 案法團、供應商及住戶以書信往來，同時亦需要與政府不同部門交涉。

多年來的工作，主 要 都 與 大 量的商業 文件及 政 府 書信關，而於修 讀 國 際商業傳意期間所學到的商業傳意技巧，提升了的中、英文水平，於工作上有相當大的幫助。不單有助與其他機構保持良好的關係，更得到上司的欣賞，即使離職後仍能保持良好的關係，建立起個人的人際網絡，最後更受邀返回舊公司出任更高的職位。

當初畢業後，猶幸抱著不怕失敗、不怕吃虧的心態去嘗試。我明白最 近 香 港的環 境為應 屆畢業 生帶來 很多的挑 戰，希望以我的故事，鼓 勵學弟學妹，不要怕首份工作未如理想而不敢嘗試，更重要是工作上帶來的機遇、經驗及人脈，總會找到一個合適的舞台發揮。

Upon completing the Associate Degree of Arts in Applied Chinese (ACS) at CityU, I had worked full-time for one year before enrolled in the BA (Hons) International Business Communication (BAIBC) Programme in CityU SCOPE in 2012. After graduating in 2013, my first job was in the field of property management, which required me to communicate with the owners’ corporations, suppliers and residents by letters, as well as liaison with different government departments.

Since a huge part of my job involves communicating via formal means in business settings, no program would suit me as well as BAIBC. The business communication skills I learnt from IBC greatly enhanced my proficiency in both Chinese and English which helped tremendously in my work. On top of gaining my boss’s recognition, I have been maintaining very good relationships both in and outside the corporation, which turned into a very useful personal network. IBC has taught me the importance of communication skills and leadership skills which brought about my promotion to a higher position in my former company.

When I was a fresh graduate, I kept reminding myself that I should never evade failure and losses. I fully understand what has been happening to Hong Kong in the recent years is posing a great challenge to the today’s fresh graduates, and I hope my story may present a useful perspective to you.

Let my story be a source of encouragement to today’s students. Keep an open mind to job opportunities even if they don’t match your expectations. An actor needs a stage to perform. Any job can bring you useful experience and connections.

洪子瑋 HUNG Tsz Wai, Cyrus主修: 國際商業傳意 (中文)Major: International Business Communication in Chinese

當初因為會考成績不理 想，只有7分，所以 只能報讀 浸大的基礎課程。完成課程後升讀城大社區學院副學士。

2010年升讀第一屆香港城市大學專業進修學院國際商業傳意榮譽文學士（中文）課程，課程使自己加深了對中文的興趣，亦訂立了日後職業發展的方向，決定要成為老師。

在大學三年內，曾擔任班代表，有很多機會與不同的同學和老師合作籌組活動，提升了我的溝通技巧和團隊協作力。

大學畢業後，報讀教育文憑課程（PGDE），其後在中學任職教學助理，近年亦修讀中文碩士課程。

現在中學 任 教中文與通識，因大學 修 讀的課程切合 現在擔任的職責，所以在數年間便由合約轉為常額老師。

薪火相傳，畢業後仍與CityU SCOPE老師保持聯繫，並協助在學系中作校友分享。在自己的工作崗位上，每年也會安排學生到大學參觀交流。

My HKCEE results with 7 points was far from being satisfactory. I was then enrolled in a foundation course at Hong Kong Baptist University and then proceeded to an associate degree in CityU Community College. I seemed to be going nowhere in terms of my career path.

I joined the first cohort of BA (Hons) International Business Communication with Chinese in 2010 in CityU SCOPE. The program kindled my interest in the Chinese language and reset my future career path. I decided to become a teacher.

During my three years in CityU SCOPE, I served as the class representative and had many opportunities to collaborate with classmates and teachers to organize activities. This improved tremendously my communication skills and I learnt about the importance of team spirit.

After graduation, I was enrolled in a Postgraduate Diploma in Education Programme and later worked as a teaching assistant in a secondary school. I subsequently attained a master’s degree in Chinese language.

I am currently a Chinese and Liberal Studies teacher in a secondary school. The knowledge I acquired throughout my studies in CityU SCOPE has equipped me with the necessary armoury for my teaching career. Before long I was offered the permanent teaching post.

I am still keeping in touch with the teachers in CityU SCOPE. Over the past few years, I have participated in career talks and arranged my students to visit the CityU campus.

我會形容CityU SCOPE協助我成為一輛充滿動力的火車，讓我好好裝備，準備前往我人生另一階段之旅程。I will symbolise CityU SCOPE as a train with a full tank of energy, ready and capable of taking me on a long journey.

當初因為會考成績不理想，所以報讀了香港城市大學社區學院(CCCU)的副學士課程。

之後升讀CityU SCOPE 英文國際企業傳意榮譽文學士 ，就讀期間不但讀得輕鬆，也開心，更與老師成為朋友。

後來發現自己不適合讀英文國際企業傳意榮譽文學士，繼而轉讀國際商業傳意榮譽文學士, 並找到自己職業興趣和目標。

大 學 畢 業 後，獲 得 老 師 的 鼓 勵，報 讀 C i t y U 傳 理 系 碩士。其後更順利入職編劇和傳媒工作。投身社會後，仍和老師們維持良好的關係，並協助在 迎 新 活動作 校 友分享。

我會形容CityU SCOPE是一個很好的踏板，幫助我找到將來的理想職業。

Due to my unsatisfactory HKCEE results, I enrolled myself in an associate degree program in the Community College of City University (CCCU).

I spent one year on BA (Hons) English forinternational Corporate Communication in CityU SCOPE before transferring to BA (Hons) International Business Communication where I eventually found my real interest and career goal.

After graduation, my teacher encouraged me to pursue further education and I went on to study a master’s degree in Communication at CityU so that I could move on to screenwriting and the media industry. I am now keeping good relationships with my teachers and happily participated in alumni sharing in the orientation days.

I would regard CityU SCOPE as a prominent steppingstone to my career path.

完成設施及物業管理高等文憑課程後，我繼續升學，入讀CityU SCOPE公共行政及管理榮譽文學士。公共行政範疇上的培訓使我在決策時，能夠運用「政策窗口」的概念，重新制定決策模式。這是物業管理行業中大多數管理者所缺乏，卻理應成為「必備」的標準。

四年的培訓 使我的人際技巧、批判性思考和危機 處理能力增進了不小，潛力得以釋放，更以二等一級榮譽畢業，成為英國特許房屋經理學會亞太分會的特許會員， 工作上還得到升遷，晉身管理層。

“不拋下任何夥伴”。這是我在軍中學到的理念。我很感恩老闆幫助我逃離那黑暗寒冷的街角，我相信自已應該為其他人 及 這行業多出點力。完成 學位課程後的一年後，我繼續攻讀文學碩士(房屋學)。

我肩負著明確的使命，要成為城市大學 和SCOPE的兼職講師，以傳遞我在這裡中學到的知識，實行取之於城大，用之於城大。我渴望與任何有志加入物業管理行業的人分享自己的經歷，更希望與同行交流， 締造更理想的工作環境，使物業住戶滿意。

Upon completion of the Advanced Diploma in Facility and Property Management, I proceeded to studying BA (Hons) Public Administration and Management in CityU SCOPE. The public administration training opened me up to a new understanding of ‘policy window’, and updated me the latest development of policy making in the corporate world, a notion all decision-makers should well embrace but most of them don’t.

These four years’ solid training polished up my interpersonal skills, critical thinking skills and crisis management skills. I graduated with a Second-upper Honour, became a chartered member at CIH and was promoted to a senior officer post. I am ready to take up the position of a manager soon.

“Leave no buddy behind” is a motto we were taught in the cadet training camp. I am grateful to my boss who has inspired me and saved me from dismal when I was down and out. In return, I promise I do something for others and the industry. One gap year after completing the BA program, I moved on to study Masters of Arts in Housing Studies.

I have a mission to achieve, i.e. to become a part-time lecturer in CityU SCOPE so that I can pass on what I have learnt about property management, sharing my hardcore work experience with anyone who wants to join the trade, and construct an amicable working environment for property management as well as the property owners and users.

當初為何會選擇與CityU SCOPE合作？ 是因為他們的同學會一步一步地向着目標出發，我覺得CityU SCOPE的同學比較踏實， 也十分配合CityU SCOPE的理念「learn to learn」。而每個星期我都需要他們回報工作進度，我都會問他一 個問題：「你想要柔和的回應，還是強硬的回應？」他們都會選擇一個強硬的回應，希望進步得更快。

CityU SCOPE的同學來到，其實也為我們的團隊帶來十分大的意義，因為為我們的團隊注入了很多活力和創意，更鼓舞到公司的團隊，注入更多生氣。

如果用一個詞語來形容CityU SCOPE的同學，我會覺得 他們也十分符合公司的理念，就 是「積極 」，期望將來有更加多合作的機會。

SharingCityU SCOPE’s students were highly motivated, and well dressed for their interviews which left me with very good impressions.

We chose to partner with CityU SCOPE because of their goal-oriented students, who are pragmatic and down-to-earth, living up to SCOPE’s ideology, “learn to learn”. The interns from SCOPE were to present their weekly reports and I would ask if they preferred harsh comments or otherwise. They would always choose the former because they wanted to improve.

The CityU SCOPE students meant a lot to our team. Not only did they bring new vitality, but their presence was also inspiring, motivating and energizing.

The CityU SCOPE students are proactive, a prominent feature which underpins our company’s core values. We look forward to more collaborative opportunities with the CityU SCOPE in the years to come.
