Salary Range Information

IntroductionAll students receiving a bachelor’s degree from July 2017 to June 2018 were surveyed (total = 481). A web survey was administered beginning in January 2019. Additional data was obtained by locating the graduates’ LinkedIn or other online profiles, by additional communications with the graduates, or by educational data obtained from the National Student Clearinghouse. Data collection ended in April 2019, with information ultimately found for 347 graduates (72%).

The data highlights that 90% of graduates are employed full-time, performing volunteer service (Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, etc.), military service, or pursuing additional education full-time.

Employment StatusThe majority of Pipers (250) are full-time employees and make up 72% of respondents. A significant portion of graduates, 56 individuals (16%) are pursuing further education. Employed part-time are 20 graduates or 6%. Ten graduates (3%) are participating in volunteer services. Additionally, four individuals (1%) are currently unemployed and seeking a job opportunity while 2 Pipers (1%) are committed to military service.

Hamline SchoolsGraduate data gathered from Pipers of the College of Liberal Arts, the Hamline School of Business, and the Hamline School of Education indicates that the majority of respondents attended the College of Liberal Arts (261 students or 75%) with the School of Business contributing 87 or 25% of graduates. The School of Education made up 2% accounting for 10 individuals.

Salary Range Information

The highest number of graduates who reported salary information (121 reports out of 347 respondents), 31% (38 graduates), fall in the $30,001-$40,000 range. The next highest, 24% (29 graduates) are earning in the $20,001-$30,000 range, followed by 21% (26 graduates) in the $40,001-$50,000, 10% (12 graduates) in the $50,001-$60,000 range, 7% (8 graduates) in the $1-$20,000 range, 3% (4 graduates) in the $60,001-$70,000 range and 2% (2 graduates) above $70,000.

A total of 84% of the graduates, 291 Pipers, are not currently pursuing additional education after completing their undergraduate degrees at Hamline University. Of the 56 students (16%) pursuing additional educational, 49 of them (14%) are full-time students and 7 (2%) are part-time students. A sample of the institutions these Pipers attend and the degrees they are seeking are listed on page 8.

Two hundred and fifty-nine graduates with full-time positions responded with information detailing their types of employment. The majority of those graduates, 152 or 59% are employed in the Private Sector. The next greatest fields are Healthcare and Nonprofit organizations with 28 graduates (11%) each, followed by Education which employed 23 graduates (9%). Government organizations which employed 15 graduates (6%) were followed by 6 Self-Employed graduates (2%) and 7 unknown (3%).
