Repealed by the Kansas Nebraska Act. The Supreme Court is unconstitutional. It did not have the rights to do that in those territories. 3/10/10 H.O.R. Didnt want to except this compromise. Missouri came in as a slave state and Maine came in as a free state to keep the numbers even. To a statehood bill brought before the House of Representatives, James Tallmadge of New York proposed an amendment that would forbid importation of slaves and would bring about the ultimate emancipation of all slaves born in Missouri. 3/10/10 Keeps Going It passed with the House, but not with the Senate. Started the division in the United States.
