Hello all,
This summer has been an incredible success for Climate-KIC. Thank you all for your efforts. Our summer school
offerings, theJourney and our inaugural thematic PhD summer school, saw over 200 participants from over 20
European universities get together to drive forward innovations in climate-change mitigation and adaptation. And
this month will bring another first with the first cohort of Climate-KIC Masters labelled students graduating in
Wroclaw, Poland.
Alumni Weekend
The Urban Safari brought together over 120 alumni together in a cold
campsite in the Netherlands. Thank you all for coming and a special
thanks to our board: Sanderine, Andreas, Marvin, Maria and Katharine,
and helper Chris, for all their hard work in putting the event together.
Judging by the comments and photos left on Facebook it was a roaring
success. Next month well officially introduce the new board members.
We are fully aware that there was no official representation from
Climate-KIC. A terrible error on our part; we do love to see you all. Noexcuses and we sincerely apologise.
IPCC report
The big news in September was clearly the publication of the IPCCs Fifth Climate Change Assessment Report
which stressed the urgent need for new climate change adaptation and mitigation solutions. A host of Climate-KIC
partners have been heavily involved with the IPCC report in Stockholm. Anders Levermann, lead author of the
IPCC chapter on sea-level rise and co-chair of Climate-KIC partner Potsdam Institute of Climate Impact
Researchs research domain Sustainable Solutions, said: We are now more certain than ever that the Earth is
warming and that human-caused emissions are a major factor. It is now up to society to decide what risks we are
willing to take and how to act on this knowledge. You can read our article here.
