Mini Tennis Ratings Answers
to frequently asked questions
CLUB LOGO - To record a win for ratings players must be level 1 or 2 and their results must be against other level 2 or level 1 players – Level 3 and 4 results only count to participation.
- Only matches registered with county office count
- To move from Orange 4 to Orange 1 you need to have played at least 56 matches
- We aim for results to be on the LTA website a week after the event
LEADERBOARDS
In operation for all mini tennis age groups
All club and premier tour events count towards a players leaderboard total
The leaderboard is updated every two weeks on the Warwickshire website – www.warwickshiretennis.net
Ratings & Ranking

Ratings
• Every player will be given a rating as long as they are signed up to British Tennis Membership
• To increase rating a player needs to:
10.2/10.1 – win four matches, send in completed results card and rating will increase straight away
9.2 onwards - have 7 qualifying wins and a 60% win loss ratio. Ratings change every 6 months, however, there is now a 3 month mid season ratings run.
• Current ratings run ends on 28th March 2010, mid season ratings run will be on 13th December 2009.

• Rankings operate in U12, U14, U16, U18, Open & Veterans age groups
• Updated every 2 weeks on the LTA website
• The higher the grade of tournament the more ranking points a player will receive.
• Based on best 6 tournaments over the last 12 months
Entry into tournaments is based firstly on the players rating and then the
players ranking

player can enter, cost is minimal and the minimum number of matches you can expect to play would be:
RED - 4 ORANGE - 3 GREEN- 2 FULL BALL- 2

major event of the year To increase competition it is possible to
enter events in nearby counties, all promoted in the Competition Year Book

HOW CAN YOUR CHILD COMPETE?
Organised competition during coaching sessions or club night. Results played in the correct format are registered for participation
Club organised tournaments / events e.g. Club Championship, Box leagues
Organised sessions by parents – get a group of players together for a fun afternoon’s tennis and all results can be registered
If players play out of their colour level the result only counts for the eligible player - i.e. a Green player may play Orange but will not register as a results for the green player

All Players need to sign up to BTM which can be done on line at www.lta.org.uk
Match results can then be registered and players will receive a rating and their own player profile on the LTA website

We want all players to enjoy competing it is therefore important that playing is fun.
Parents can help by:Placing greater emphasis on playing and enjoying rather than winningFinding out what the player learnt rather than telling them what they did wrongNEVER getting involved in the matchAvoid showing any emotion other than positive clapping for both players

How can parents help at their club?
Manage a team
Support at club competitions [help with catering etc]
Attend a competition organisers course to learn how to run competitions and receive all the resources to do this. [3 hours open to anyone over 16+]
Older players may wish to take the Tennis Leaders Competition module to assist at the club
Attend a referee training course [2 days 6 months apart with work experience]
