The purpose was to discuss the key issues, variables and interactions, resulting in a conceptual model of the combined land-sea system. Read more GREECE SOUTH-WEST MESSINIA MAL How can local experience and knowledge be combined with scientific expertise so that primary production and tourism lead to sustainable economic, environmental and social development in Western Messenia? This is the key question investigated by the Multi-Actor Lab in the Greek case study. Read more SWEDEN NORRSTRÖM / BALTIC MAL How should rural, urban and coastal sectors, actors and activities interact to ensure sustainable development with no eutrophication or pollution of coastal and marine waters? This is the key question investigated by the Multi- Actor Lab in the Swedish case study. Read more FRANCE CHARENTE RIVER BASIN MAL The first cross sectorial workshop (Multi-Actor Lab) took place on 21 May 2019 in Rochefort located at the mouth of the Charente river. The general objective of the workshop was to discuss key issues, interactions and variables that have emerged during the first round of sectorial workshops. Read more CURRENT AND UPCOMING ACTIVITIES IN COASTAL The project is organised around interacting Multi-Actor Labs (MALs), combining tools and expertise for six case studies representing the major coastal regions in the EU territory. In each MAL local actors and experts participate in collaborative exercises to analyse problems, analyse the causes, propose and discuss solutions, and validate and interpret the impacts of simulated business and policy decisions. Read more MULTI-ACTOR PARTNERS COASTAL partners are currently completing their second round of workshops with selected stakeholders representing the land- and sea-based economic operators, stakeholders and administrations. The main purpose is to analyse the land-sea interactions from a combined rural- coastal perspective. The outcomes will be the starting point for setting the priorities for modelling the land-sea interactions, and collecting supporting field data and statistics. Read more The Research Institute for the Economy of Agriculture and Rural Development (ICEADR) organized three workshops in January 2019 with the themes ”Rural Development”, ”Agriculture and ecosystems services”, ”Tourism, recreation and others rural activities”. Read more SPAIN MAR MENOR COASTAL LAGOON MAL On 11 April 2019 the first Spanish Multi Actor lab was organized at CEBAS-CSIC in Murcia with a total of 14 participants from all different sectors. We started the workshop with a summary overview of the main outcomes from the previous six sectorial workshops. Then, we illustrated the participants how we merged the six sectorial system maps into one overall system map and asked for feedback on the merging process. Read more
