HOLIDAY VOLUNTEERISM

COCA-COLA VOLUNTEERS FOR CHILDREN

Twin Cities Toys for Tots

For the fifth year, facilities from Great Lakes Coca-Cola in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois, held a Toys for Tots drive. The goal was to collect 400 toys across the area’s 12 facilities – each one donating toys to its closet Toys for Tots location so families in each community benefited.

Butch Burns, Great Lakes Market Unit VP of field operations, personally donated 30 toys and promised to shave his head if they collected 1,000 toys. They exceeded that goal by collecting more than 1,500 toys, more than three times what they set out to do, and giving over 1,500 Midwestern children a holiday to remember. Additionally, Coca-Cola presented a $2,000 sponsorship check to the U.S. Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, and 11 Great Lakes Coca-Cola and CCNA associates volunteered at the warehouse.

And yes, Burns shaved his head.

Little Rock Dollar General Toys for Tots

For the past eight years, Coca-Cola has partnered with Dollar General, the Arkansas Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) and Bob Robins Toys for Tots to provide Christmas presents for Arkansas children in need. This year, Coca-Cola volunteers helped shop for toys, load the cash register belt, and carefully pack the box truck outside the store to ensure the presents made it safely to their destinations.

West St. Paul, Minn. Boys & Girls Club

“It looked a lot like Christmas” at the Westside Boys & Girls Club thanks to the work of 11 Great Lakes Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola North America associates. Last month, 11 employees led craft projects, initiated games, prepared dinner, and decorated the club for the holidays. For the past several years, Coca-Cola associates have volunteered regularly and served on the board of directors and the associate board of the Boys & Girls Club of the Twin Cities.

The Las Vegas DC team joined customer Terrible Herbst and Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman for 98.5 KLUC-FM’s 18th Annual Toy Drive kickoff.

For 12 days, KLUC-FM collected donations on behalf of HELP of Southern Nevada to benefit local families and hundreds of non-profit agencies. HELP of Southern Nevada is a non-profit social service organization serving underserved and homeless families in southern Nevada.

Thirty associates participated in the kickoff event by loading and transporting donated toys to HELP of Southern Nevada. This year’s toy drive collected more than 6,000 bicycles, 30 truckloads of toys and raised an estimated $400,000.

Clark Howard at Clarks Christmas Kids

The Atlanta Market Unit sent three different volunteer groups – a total of 50 associates – to assist with Clark Howard’s Clarks Christmas Kids this year. Associates helped unload donation trucks at their warehouse in downtown Atlanta. The donated toys were distributed to foster kids throughout the state of Georgia.

The organization is special to the company because some members of Coca-Cola’s sales team went through the foster program in Georgia, and Coca-Cola realizes how tough Christmas can be for some children. This is the second year associates have volunteered with this organization and the company plans to make it an annual priority during the Christmas season.

Redding Bike Drive

Coca-Cola’s Redding team held its third annual holiday bike drive to benefit local foster children. Members of the Northern California Market Unit helped with the distribution of almost 100 new bikes for children and families in need. At least four local foster agencies benefited from this year’s donation.

COCA-COLA VOLUNTEERS FOR COMMUNITY

Coca-Cola’s BCI Team, PAC and Hispanic Leadership BRG recently partnered to activate the East Los Angeles Christmas Parade. As Presenting Sponsor, Coca-Cola helped bring the parade back to the East LA community after a seven-year hiatus.

Nearly 35 associates participated in the parade by walking alongside a Coca-Cola float, and BCI ambassadors sampled beverages along the parade route. Additionally, a group of 30 associates came together in the weeks prior to the parade to conduct a mini MIT along the parade route.

Approximately 750 pieces of holiday themed POS items were executed in outlet during the MIT.

Holiday Cards at South Arkansas DC

Several years ago, the Camden, Arkansas team decided to display holiday cards on the lawn of Coca-Cola Refreshments distribution center. In 2016, the team decided to display the life-size cards once again and bring the community to life and inject holiday spirit for all to enjoy. After gathering holiday cards from several schools around the state, several associates volunteered their time cutting, building, painting, digging holes and erecting the cards at the Coca-Cola plant through the holiday season.

Special Olympics Southern California Honored at Jingle Ball Village

Coca-Cola Refreshments Region Marketing Team partnered with Public Affairs and Communications to once again honor Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC) at iHeart Radio’s Jingle Ball Village. Local Special Olympics athletes and their families were provided the opportunity to enjoy lunch and free skating at LA LIVE. West OU President and General Manager Bill O’Brien joined customer AEG in presenting a $5,000 check to SOSC to support their ongoing work in Southern California.

On December 3, CCNA’s Commercial Marketing team and Laverne Harley, CCR’s senior marketing manager, continued their commitment to the Harlem community with a holiday season partnership with the Apollo Theater.

Volunteers helped bring the Winter Wonderland to life for many local families this year. The day’s events included a toy and book drive that benefited Our Children Foundation of Harlem, performances by BACKTRACK and the Association of Related Churches choir, and photos with Santa.

COCA-COLA VOLUNTEERS FOR THE FAMILIES IN NEED

Associates from Needham and other parts of New England once again volunteered at the Table of Friends Thanksgiving dinner at the TD Garden, a major customer that hosts this event each year to provide Thanksgiving meals for those in need.

For the seventh year in a row, associates volunteered their time to help set up the event and serve meals to over 1,000 homeless and less fortunate individuals and families from the greater Boston area. Table of Friends is a marquee holiday event that attracts local elected officials, Bruins and Celtics alumni, and other celebrity guests to give back to the community.

E.J. Jackson Foundation Turkey Dinner Giveaway

More than 40 associates from the Coca-Cola Refreshments Small Store Team recently led Coca-Cola’s participation in the 34th annual E.J. Jackson Foundation Turkey Dinner Giveaway. Associates helped build 15,000 turkey dinner boxes for residents of South Los Angeles, and also sampled beverages. Coca-Cola has partnered with customer 7-Eleven to support this well-known event for the last four years.

Turkeys and 2 Liters

Neal Haslem, CCR district sales manager, and two of his friends in Macon, Georgia donated over 500 two-liter bottles of Coke and 500 turkeys. This is the third year the trio of friends have donated 500 two liters and 500 turkeys.

NYS Holiday Food Drive

Tri-State Metro, Coca-Cola Refreshments joined New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s holiday food drive in support of food banks and community organizations throughout the state to feed over 35,000 New Yorkers. Chris Zeni and his team at Coca-Cola’s Bronx distribution center donated 230 cases of product, including mini-cans. Associates also joined other volunteers and the National Guard to pack up the food and beverages.

For the past three years, Coca-Cola’s Memphis Little Rock Market Unit has partnered annually with the Memphis Mayor’s Office for Operation Christmas Basket, a program that assists families in need, specifically those who have experienced a recent job loss.

This year, Coca-Cola donated $5,000, product, and volunteer manpower, with employees donating their time to build the food baskets.

Approximately 75 associates from Coca-Cola North America partnered

with groups across Atlanta on MLK Day to honor Dr. King’s legacy.

Volunteers assisted Hosea Helps, an organization that focuses on homeless prevention and food scarcity, by serving Coca-Cola beverages to more than 1,000 people from the underserved Atlanta community.

Atlanta Police Athletic League

Volunteers assisted the Atlanta Police Athletic League, a nonprofit organization that provides a safe environment for youth to reach their full potential, by painting a lounge and computer rooms, removing broken equipment, painting mural boards and building shelving and benches.

MedShare

Associates helped MedShare, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the environment and healthcare through the redistribution of surplus medical supplies and equipment to underserved healthcare facilities in developing countries, sort and prepare medical supplies to be boxed and shipped to healthcare partners abroad.

Rights 2 Life Foundation

King holiday volunteers helped clean and repair the gardens at the Rights 2 Life Foundation at the John H. Harland Boys & Girls Club. The foundation provides access to education, food, transportation, shelter and safety for low-income and under-represented populations.
