CITY&To put Cobalt Place on the map: it is in Battersea Village, London SW11, one of the most flourishing neighbourhoods south of the river and only about five minutes walk from the Thames itself. Chelsea starts on the north side of Battersea Bridge and the West End is less than four miles away.
ALBERT BRIDGE
Battersea’s historic streets have conservation areas and cobblestones, they possess genuine London character and style. It’s a unique mix that’s attracted some excellent restaurateurs and businesses, some with A-list status. Victoria Beckham runs her fashion empire from Battersea, and Gordon Ramsay chose Battersea Square for his latest London venture. What better recommendation could there be?
At Cobalt Place you’ll be in very good company.

BATTERSEA SQUARE
#HEARTANDSOUL
Battersea is a great place to live and there are many reasons for that.
One is Battersea Power Station, an iconic building from the days of less sustainable energy, which is about to enter a new lease of life with shops, offices, space for public events and even a theatre. As one of London’s best loved buildings, it has a deservedly positive outlook and will be an exciting asset to the area.

Another local landmark is Battersea Park, a treasured open space that has been delighting its visitors since 1858. Today its 200 acres provide many surprising ways to relax and unwind. There’s a boating lake, magnificent fountains, the Pumphouse Gallery, tennis courts, even a zoo: all of which are walkable within minutes from Cobalt Place.
Living at Cobalt Place will allow you to enjoy all of Battersea’s landmark locations.

With its cobbled square, pavement cafés and renowned restaurants, Battersea Village is the focus of the neighbourhood and invites you to browse, shop and be sociable. It’s exactly what a city village should be, and it’s just around the corner from Cobalt Place.

Battersea Rickshaw, Mazar, Riviera, Melanzana: the names of the restaurants indicate the delicious range of cuisine on offer. The village shops are equally varied and unusual, including a traditional butcher and artisan bakery, quirky fashion boutiques, and a gourmet food market on Battersea High Street.
The pubs combine Victorian exteriors with the quality of food and drink most Londoners expect: one of the best is The Woodman.
Local really is local from Cobalt Place.

With an eye on your future utility bills and CO2 emissions, we have incorporated energy efficient options into the townhouse design. There’s underfloor heating in the living room and bedrooms fuelled by a central combined heat and power plant; a full complement of energy efficient kitchen appliances; triple glazing and natural fresh air ventilation; Solar Photovoltaic Panels to reduce electricity bills. The townhouses achieve CFSH Level 5.
Sustainable design looks good at Cobalt Place.
FUNCTION
Internal photography representative of current Lend Lease developments
Cobalt Place is built using a method called cross-laminated timber (or CLT) that uses sustainably sourced timber in a faster, cleaner, safer and altogether better build process. All the timber is 100% sustainably sourced, and certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
The cross-lamination process makes it extremely strong and far superior to standard timber frame construction. The resulting building is durable and stable, has naturally good thermal insulation which in turn creates superior indoor air quality. It even smells good!
A host of additional features at Cobalt Place enables you to reduce energy use, save water, and recycle waste, giving the townhouses a Level 5 rating in the Code for Sustainable Homes. It means that CO2 emissions are 25% less than homes built to current Building Regulation standards.* (*Correct at time of going to press)
At Cobalt Place, kitchen appliances have a high energy efficiency rating, and water consuming fixtures and fittings are low consumption. The aim is for each household to use less than 105 litres of water per person per day:
30% less than the average. You’ll be able to track how much energy you’re using, via the Energy Display Device installed, giving you control over consumption and, as a result, your bills.
Recycling waste will quickly become second nature, thanks to the recycling bins within your home and the communal ones that serve the whole of Cobalt Place.
With such good local amenities and transport connections, you’ll be able to cut down on car use, and if you’re able to work from home, you will have space to do so, with high speed internet access already connected.

BLUE & GREEN
Cobalt Place is an example of the new ‘blue to green’ concept that forward looking companies are adopting. In blue to green thinking, it’s not enough for a product to be just sustainable, it must also return something to its surroundings, its community, the people who use it.
Cobalt Place does this by being green in its design and by having benefits for its residents and the broader community.
The townhouses and apartments at Cobalt Place merge happily into the surrounding Conservation Area streets and allow good vantage points and sunlight to all the homes.
They are a positive addition to their neighbourhood. Green roofs, new trees, plants and hedges offer habitats for plants, birds and pollinating insects, all adding immeasurably to local biodiversity, whilst demanding minimal water.
There’s a feeling of openness and greenery, a surprising yet welcome feature in a London development. Landscaped areas surround the development, and they include a communal garden and play space for residents to use, improving quality of life for those who use them.
Cobalt Place neighbours the St John Bosco College which is being developed as a contribution to the community.
Design in tune at Cobalt Place.

“We design very different buildings for very different people to use in very different ways. We believe in making places, as well as buildings that work over time and have lasting qualities intrinsic to their architecture.”

Cobalt Place is an exceptional development for us at Lend Lease and groundbreaking in many aspects.
We are committed to creating the best places to live and we are proud to deliver our vision for Cobalt Place by bringing homes, and a lasting legacy, to the people of London.
We have thought hard about what is important to residents. Cobalt Place isn’t just another housing development, it works hard to build a community and offers sustainable living through its innovative specification and design. Our collaboration with our architects Allford Hall Monaghan Morris has produced a truly inspirational scheme.
The Lend Lease team are pushing the boundaries through water saving technology, and sustainably sourced materials, which will provide superior indoor air quality and reduced energy consumption achieving a reduction in household bills.
We are passionate about community living and as part of our role we are providing a secondary school that will cater for 1,200 pupils, with Special Education Needs facilities and state of the art, modern amenities. This further adds to our local community contribution.
Cobalt Place is a truly unique offering to the people of London; it offers a village life like no other and we are delighted to be delivering this exciting new addition to the neighbourhood of Battersea.
