Creating a Logo: An Illustrator and Photoshop Collaboration There are many ways to create a logo, some designers still prefer to use pen and paper, but many are turning to using graphics software such Photoshop and Illustrator. Both of the mentioned programs are part of the Adobe Suite, which allows users to integrate both programs together seamlessly. The difference between the two mentioned programs is that Photoshop works with bitmaps, these graphics when zoomed in will look jagged because it is made with pixels, tiny squares that are the building blocks of almost any graphics. Illustrator on the other hand constructs graphics using vectors, instead of using pixels; it uses mathematical equations of X axis and Y axis. The advantage of this is it will never lose any quality if its scaled or skewed, thus making it perfect when creating logos. Creating a Logo: An Illustrator and Photoshop Collaboration

There are many ways to create a logo, some designers still prefer to use pen and paper, but many are turning to using graphics software such Photoshop and Illustrator.

Here is a screenshot of a finished logo, using illustrator, it was created using the pen tool, a very useful to create vectors, it offers you plenty options when creating a simple line; you could change the outline and colour to any variety that you prefer. Stroke in laymens terms is the thickness of the line, this could also be altered to any of that you desire, you also have other options such as a dotted line, spaced line etc. The pen tool has also presets that you could choose from such as the one above a 5pt Round line.

As you can see here this logo was created in layers. This is an industry standard rule, when creating graphics by creating your logo in layers you have more control to what you have created and easier to remove objects that you have created. Another purpose of layers is overlaying objects on top of the other to achieve a look of stacking.

Here the warp and skew tool for the text, is being used to conform the text around the shape of the graduation cap. This allows to shape the text in a variety of shapes to your liking. To do this you must first create a copy layer of the text, then you must rasterize the new copy layer. Then you must go into edit and transform and the different options will be located there.
