• This is how it works: PRODUCTIONSERVER4 attaches all the production-relevant settings to the job loaded and forwards it to the FILMGATE Module to be ripped.

• SCREEN PRINT PROOF Module accepts the RIP data, processes it with the color management of the PRODUCTIONSERVER4 and creates the output file for the screen and color-accurate proof.* That’s it.

• *Correct color simulation requires a previously created reference profile with the ColorGATE REFERENCE PROFILER Module

• The SCREEN PRINT PROOF Module makes it easy to show production alternatives directly (screen processes, screen ruling, material simulation). Set-up times and material required is reduced to a minimum.

• Plans to be printed together can be conveniently configured to identify moiré patterns at an early point in time.

Technical overview

The SCREEN PRINT PROOF Module contains several functions for a complete setup of a working screen print proof workflow.

• Creation of a screen printing reference profile• Transfer of the screened FILMGATE RIP data into the SCREEN PRINT

…the effectiveness of the SCREEN PRINT PROOF Module is depending on several conditions and factors.

• The simulation of spot colors is only possible inside the proofer gamut• Mesh-moirès cannot be simulated/checked• Effects of finishes and different paints cannot be simulated• It is required to create a special reference profile per

paint, medium and screen• Special corpus forms like cups are hard to profile.

1. PROOF technology

• For a perfect simulation of printing reference it is necessary to meet several conditions:

• Colormanagement technology• Low DeltaE• Capable proof medium

• PROOFGATE meets this conditions successfully since years!


2. Measure the printing reference

• The REFERENCE PROFILER Module (RPFM) includes the properties of a screen printing machine into an ICC profile

• The REFERENCE PROFILER is an assistant- based module. It creates ‘simulation ICC profiles’ (like ISOcoated) and allows to simulate the gamut of different printing machines which cannot be controlled directly by PRODUCTIONSERVER.


3. Dot gain of the screen printing machine

• RIP internal calculations allow to identify the dot gain out of the ‘simulation ICC profile’ which hast been created before with the REFERENCE PROFILER Module (RPFM)

4. Dot gain of the ink jet

• The usage of an AM screening also creates a dot gain on the proof medium.

• A screened linearization target printed with the ink jet allows to measure an identify the dot gain of the ink jet on the proof medium.


5. Synchronization of ink jet and screen printing machine

• The dot gain curves of ink jet and screen printing machine will be compared and a correction can be created

• Only the accurate measuring and calculation of both dot gains allow to create a high quality screen print proof.

• If needed the user can do some dot gain curve corrections for the screen printing machine manually.
