NOTES FROM FR. DAVID The light of Epiphany brings illumination, but true illumination is rarely comforting. The last appointment of my day focused upon regrets that a widow had in her relationship with her deceased spouse. Regrets that can never be resolved or rewritten because death removed the possibility. Epiphany’s journey brings us to the only place that it can—to Ash Wednesday because there are always regrets. A poet once wrote: “Our greatest enemy is fear; fear that we are not good enough; fear that we have not worked hard enough; fear that we will not live long enough…” In less than two weeks we will stand on Lent’s threshold and follow the footsteps of those who have gone before us in piety and prayer. Will our journey of moderation, fasting, repentance and spiritual discipline be any different this year? It all depends on Epiphany’s illumina-tion…and our willingness to embrace our fears. When we are able to look deep within we will discover the God who is always faithful and who can be trusted implicitly. We will dis-cover the God who knows us better than we know ourselves. This is Epiphany’s gift to our Lenten pilgrimage. Grace and peace, Father David

Dillon’s and Hy-Vee Cards Don’t forget to purchase your Dillon’s or Hy-Vee
cards every Sunday.
The outreach committee is going to use the pro-ceeds from the Dillon’s card program to reach out to kids who have needs through the homeless program
at USD 475. This will include medications that are needed when they are in transition and food.
Thank you to Richard Pinaire for all you have done for the Church of the Covenant this past year. Everyone would like to thank you for all your hard work and dedica-tion as Senior Warden to make this a wonderful place to worship every Sunday.
If you have someone that you would like to recognize as the Star of the Month please call or email the office, or leave a note in the plate and we will include them in the next month’s Communicator.

Also, The Society of St. John the Evangelist offers daily video meditations to help people on a journey into the heart of God in prayer. Subscribers to the broth-ers’ popular “Brother, Give us a Word” daily email will automatically receive notice of these videos. More information is on the SSJE website, http://ssje.org/ssje/prayer/.
