Play – To Goal- Split the players onto two
teams- Play 3v3 to start and play no
larger then 5v5 with a few subs if necessary. Make sure to adjust the field a little more space is better then too small
- Have a pile of balls near each end line when you run out of balls go collect
- Goals are scored passing thru cone goal
KEYS Look for opportunities to shoot Can players shoot on the
move?
- Decisions- Ownership
- Standards- Enjoyment
- Technique- AttackingThe Woodbury Way
Activity 1 – 3v2 (1) Play and move- Get players into groups of 4 or 5- With the U11 it will probably work
best in groups of 4- If D win they ball the try to dribble
out of space- Players with the ball try to keep the
ball away from the D with the pass or dribble
- Make sure space is generous enough even if it means you have to change D every now and then
KEYS Use of space – how big can the
three make it When can you dribble or pass Move after you play the ball MOVE, MOVE, MOVE even little
adjustments count and are important

- Standards- Enjoyment
- Technique- AttackingThe Woodbury Way
Activity 2 – 3v2 - Decisions- 2 Teams - Keep score – One team
starts behind blue cones the other behind the yellow
- Not so good team has quick fun penalty
- Ball gets passed to teammate then passer steps on to play 3v2
- Ball goes out of play new group plays
- One team attacks one defends then switch roles
- Play quicklyKEYS Player off ball makes run Player on ball makes decision – shoot,
pass or dribble? Does first touch go towards goal? Is it
threatening goal? What is the relationship between the
two attackers Too tight makes it easier to
defend and speeds up play To far away and it give defender
time to recover This must be at speed – slow down
and lose the initiative
- Decisions- Ownership
- Standards- Enjoyment
- Technique- AttackingThe Woodbury Way
Activity 3 – Play- Split the players onto two
teams- Play 3v3 to start and play no
larger then 5v5 with a few subs if necessary. Make sure to adjust the field a little more space is better then too small
- Have a pile of balls near each end line when you run out of balls go collect
- One team could play to goal w/sweeper/GK
KEYS Effort is number 1 priority. If effort is not sufficient pull
player out and have them watch until the are ready to give effort
Willingness to Defend and Attack
Look for opportunities to shoot
Thanks
Have fun, be detailed, be demanding!
