WORSHIP NOTESParticipants: Katie Woolever, our taskforce worker for drama and video productions and Fresh Breadministry, presents today’s sermon on . Clive Wilson, Kettering College of Medical Arts’ Chaplain, hosts today’s worship. Pam McCartney, manager of infection prevention and controle at Kettering Hospital, presents the Prayers of the People, Madelyn Callender, church elder and choir member, reads today’sscripture. Pastor Dan and Richa Stevens present the children’s lesson. Jerry Taylor, our minister ofworship and music, is the pianist/organist for today’s services.

Music for today’s services is provided by the under the direction of Donald Huff. A praiseorchestra has a larger brass and woodwind section than a regular orchestra but smaller than a band. Inaddition, a “praise orchestra” makes heavy use of the piano, organ, guitars, and drums. This is the sizeensemble that records the sound tracks recorded to accompany singers. This would be the typical orchestrato accompany a film. The music tends to be very colorful with lots of solos, making every player a soloist. This, along with the very difficult and complex rhythms, makes the music challenging and rewarding at the sametime.

was written and recorded by Twila Paris. Twila is considered "the modern-day hymn-writer"and has written and recorded many popular singles in Christian music since the early 1980s. Many of hersongs like this one are gentle prayers put to music.

was composed in 1998 by Brian Doerksen, during a time that hedescribes as “the darkest and lowest season of my life.” He realized that a call to worship doesn’t come onlyto those who have it “all together.” Dr. Doerksen is a minister of music with the Vineyard church in BritishColumbia.

is a gospel hymn written by Arabella Hankey in 1886.

was written in 1986 by Daniel Gardner while going to college at Oakland Universityin Rochester, Michigan. The repeated lyrics focus on the words and that we have in theLord.

Hymn No 321, was written by William Ralph Featherston at age 16. Reportedly, hesent it to an aunt living in California and somehow it was published as an anonymous hymn in a British hymnalin 1864.

was written in 1975 by Kurt Kaiser for Evie, a popular Christian singer. Formore than 40 years the name of Kurt Kaiser has been synonymous with Christian keyboard artistry, songwriting, conducting, and arranging. The song’s message of Christ’s journey to Calvary, showing just howmuch He loves you and me, is truly soul-stirring.
