1.3 Threats Viruses – “live” within computer programs which makes them become infected,

e.g. Sampo and Hare.Computer viruses are generally classified as:Boot Sector, Terminate and Stay resident, Macro, Multipartite, Companion and

Polymorphic. Types of viruses:• Computer Worm- Often used to exploit computers’ files• Trojans- often hidden in programs that are not likely to contain a threat, Trojans

tend to self destruct and leave no evidence of them being there• Logic Bomb- Like a Trojan but can be set to go off at a certain time and date on the

computer

Anti viruses that can block attacks e.g. Avast, Norton, McAfee, A.V.G etc...

Firewalls be careful if some Firewalls are turned off

Don’t go on un secure websitesBe careful with what you download

Change passwords monthly to avoid hackingAnti virus updates Blocking certain websites

It is important to back up data as if your system does get attacked you could lose important files if you back things up you can still have them
