Principal’s Report
For the next four weeks our PBL focus is “Following Instructions”. Teachers will be working with students on the importance of following instructions. We appreciate parent support in encouraging our students to do as they are asked. This is a skill that is required in the workforce as well as at school – a skill for life.
Next week, Mrs Diana Goodfellow will start work at Condobolin Public School. Mrs Goodfellow has been appointed to our school to work with our K-2 classes as part of the Early Action for Success program. It is aimed at further developing the literacy and numeracy capabilities of our students, building upon the great work done by our teachers.
Regional Director Visits School
Mrs Carole McDiarmid, former student and Regional Director for Western NSW, visited our school last week. Mrs McDiarmid noted the improved tone and academic results of our school. She wrote the following in the Western NSW regional newsletter:
We are indeed extremely lucky to have such dedicated teachers and support staff working in Condobolin. Improving the learning of all students is a priority.
Lunch Orders
Parents are reminded that all lunch orders need to be at the canteen by 9.30am. We have noticed that some students are choosing not to order lunches, but purchase inappropriate snack foods instead during breaks.
Ordering lunches ensures that children have sufficient time to eat and play. It also allows students to eat healthy foods to assist maintain the energy needed to concentrate and learn. Children who stand in line waiting to purchase snack foods are missing out on vital play-time with their friends.
CSIRO
All students will be able to participate in a special science show with visiting CSIRO Scientists on Thursday, 1 November. The school is subsidizing the event so that it will cost students only $1 per child.
Last term, our students thoroughly enjoyed a range of science activities as part of our Community Science Day.

Cont….. Year 7 Transition
A group of students and staff from the high school will be visiting our school on Wednesday, 7 November as the start of our Transition to Year 7 program.
Following this, the Year 6 students will be involved in four weekly visits to Condobolin High School to familiarize them with the classrooms, timetables, subjects and teachers. Year 6 students are reminded that they are expected to wear their summer uniform and leather shoes or joggers (not canvas slip-on shoes) to be able to participate in all lessons.
Please ensure that you have returned permission notes as soon as possible.
Bike Safety
Students who ride to and from school are legally required to wear a helmet. Students that do not have a helmet will not be permitted to ride their bicycles home. Please ensure that your children are wearing a well-fitted helmet if they wish to ride to school. We are never sure when there could be a blitz on helmets by the highway patrol or local police.

As you are aware, the canteen had to close for two days recently as Kathy was away due to family reasons and no other committee members were available. The canteen is desperate for volunteers to work. It cannot be done by one person every day. Please call in and see Kathy and volunteer. It is not essential that you serve the children if you are not confident doing this. Just helping prepare the food and orders would be a great help even for an hour or two. ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
