Definition: Asset Management

The coordinated activities of an organisationto realise value from its assets.

Asset management translates the organization’s objectives into asset-related decisions, plans and activities, using a risk based approach.

Note: Realisation of value normally involves a balancing of costs, risks and performance. This balancing might need to be considered over different time frames.
