Why you should attend our annual meeting

The first year we did business with roughly 15 agents. By our third year (2014), we did business with 48 different CQR agents and our shipment count on the first year was triple.

The meetings definitely helped to develop the relationships through meeting, talking about cooperation and then executing. There is no doubt that if you aren’t active in attending the meetings and promoting your company that this won’t happen. Your agents definitely need to know you to build the trust and vice versa.”

FRANK D’AMBRA - ARIES GLOBAL (CQR ATLANTA, LOS ANGELES, MIAMI, NEW YORK, PHILADELPHIA)

PHUKET 2012 BANGKOK 2013

KUALA LUMPUR 2014

We are of the opinion that attending the Annual Meeting helps in knowing members in a better way which then generates mutually developed business. We can say in all honesty that when we forward our free hand export shipments to any CQR member, we have the peace of mind that our shipments will be handled professionally and efficiently due to stringent procedures adopted by CQR while selecting members.

In 2014, Modern Cargo forwarded or received 22 shipments from 13 different CQR members

P.N. SWAROOP - MODERN CARGO (CQR MUMBAI)

KUALA LUMPUR 2014

We have built some good business with Ambjorn Olseen at Euroglobe (CQR Stockholm). We were working on a lead back from the 2nd

Annual CQR Meeting which has developed into a regular account with shipments not just out of Sweden but from other parts of the world. It goes to show that conferences do not necessarily produce instant results but over time by working with each other we have a better chance of winning business together.

DAVID AHERNE - ACROSS THE OCEAN SHIPPING (CQR MELBOURNE)

PHUKET 2012

BANGKOK 2013

KUALA LUMPUR 2014There are many cases where we are doing ongoing work with CQR agents around the world and it is certainly the best structured network that we have ever been part of.”

We have had good experiences meeting with agents from all over the globe at the annual meetings and benefitting from their experience and increasing our exposure on an international platform.

ARIF NADEEM - TEKNIK MOVERS (CQR SIALKOT)

PHUKET 2012 BANGKOK 2013 KUALA LUMPUR 2014

I am regularly exchanging business with CQR agents in the UK, USA, GERMANY, POLAND, KOREA, JAPAN, BRAZIL too name a few, most of whom I met at the annual meeting. The sales leads being exchanged with the agents are helping secure new clients in the region which could not be possible with the help of partners. For Teknik Movers, we feel satisfied and optimistic to grow with this network of agents.”

We strongly believe that attending the CQR meetings establishes more professional and strategic partnerships with other members allowing for better understanding on specific services with more focus and dedication.

We have achieved new objectives and identified challenges, strengths and weakness and have been able to transform new business opportunities into long term cooperation. As a result of attending, we have built good relationships with CQR members in Europe, USA and Asia Pacific regions.”

SAPEE ISMAIL - SUBALIPACK (CQR KOTA KINABALU, KUALA LUMPUR, KUCHING, PORT KLANG, SHAH ALAM)

CQR KANPUR SHIPS 13MT OF STAINLESS STEEL

Over the past few months, Indial Shipping, CQR’s exclusive agent in Kanpur, has been shipping literally tons of cargo by air; including 13MT of stainless steel sheets to Dammam.

Due to the weight of the cargo, moving from Mumbai Airport was carried out with special packing instructions. The scope of work for the team included freight, packing, documentation, custom clearance and airport handling.

Whilst 13MT is a significant air shipment, it is not the team’s largest recent air shipment. They also moved a 73MT transformer from Bangalore to Angola on a chartered flight and 4 engineering valves weighing approx. 29.4 MT from Mumbai to Riyadh on nose loading plane, specially positioned for the loading of the shipment.

CQR CHONGQING SHIPS 22-TON UNIT CRAWLER EXCAVATORCQR Chongqing Everokgroup International Forwarding Co., Ltd, are specialized in handling oversized and overweight cargo.

One of their most recent such shipments was for one unit crawler excavator which was shipped from Shanghai, China to Asuncion, Paraguay. The team organized a seamless and successful end to end service which in part was down to the company being a VIP customer of the main port in Shanghai, enjoying priority of entering the port, discharging cargoes and tally at the port by arranging professional staff working at the port site to meet any needs for their customers.

“Over the years, we have built up good relationships within the industry and the external providers we use are hired on a regular basis. We always ensure that they are operating correctly and efficiently in order to guarantee customer satisfaction,” explained Commercial Director, Joy Hu.

CQR RIGA CELEBRATES 20TH ANNIVERSARYOn 24th January this year, RINOSTA SHIPPING AGENCY Ltd. (CQR Riga) celebrated its 20th anniversary. Since its foundation in 1995, RINOSTA has gone from a small shipping agency in the port of Riga with just two members of staff to an experienced forwarding company with 22 employees operating across offices in Latvia and Lithuania. “We are proud to say that we are amongst a handful of well-established and independent freight forwarding companies in the Baltic and we have gained a strong market position in the region. Myself and the team are dedicated to the business we love for at least the next 20 years!” said Manager Maria Zhilyaeva. 20

CQR ISRAEL INCREASES ITS WAREHOUSE CAPACITYJackylog, a subsidiary of the Jacky Line Group, Conqueror’s exclusive agent in 3 cities across Israel, has increased its total warehouse capacity in the centre of the country from 13,000m2 to 20,000m2 (dry cargo, reefer, with a specialty in Pharma & Frozen food); 7,000m2 of that have been allocated to a new product courier service. Business is certainly booking for the Jacky Line Group. Almost 1 year ago, we informed members of their plan to increase warehouse capacity and it is unbelievable that in less than a year, they need to expand again.

RINOSTA has been fortunate enough to keep its original staff who also celebrated two decades with the company. They are teaching the newer team members, sharing their valuable knowledge and precious experience. “Whilst these past 20 years have not always been easy, they have certainly been exciting and important to all of us with every day bringing the team valuable knowledge, experience and greater confidence!” said Maria. “Finally, I would to thank all of you, our fellow members, for the partnerships we have developed. We value your support and assistance, and the passion you have shown in reaching our mutual objectives. We look forward to meeting you all at the CQR annual meeting in May!” said Maria.

Q. When and how did you get into the freight forwarding industry?

A. I started my career in the airfreight forwarding industry, about 30 years ago. After graduating in Construction Engineering, (BEng) I became fed up with this industry and took an opportunity to launch a new career in the logistics industry, as a freight forwarder entrepreneur running my own show. After 20 years of operation, I sold this company.

Q. Can you tell us a little about the history of NBK AIR AND OCEAN and when you joined?

A. After selling my company I worked on the pay-roll for various companies at management level, but it didn’t give me the same satisfaction as when I was running my own business.

In 2012, I teamed-up with the NBK Group and shortly after that I decided to start-up NBK Air & Ocean BV at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol as a part-owner of this company. The brand NBK was established almost 100 years ago (1919) near the biggest port in Europe with a specialization in transportation of wood products. Through the years, we have gained a lot of knowledge and experience which have enabled us to become a reliable 4PL service provider.

This regards transport by road, sea, air, rail or a combination of these. We coordinate the logistics from the origin to the place of destination.

Q. Does your company specialise in any particular kind of shipment or service?

A. We are specialized in several fields of logistics, the Group NBK consists of several divisions, with 30000m2 warehousing, our own fleet of container trucks, hazardous cargo specialist, IATA and AEO licensed.

Our no nonsense attitude combined with perseverance and clear, open communication makes the difference. We will always give our best service to each agent or client, no matter the size of the shipment.

Q. What would be the most significant shipment your company has handled?

A. The one that sticks most in my mind occurred on Christmas Day, 2012. A vessel belonging to one of our customers (a ship-owner) became stuck in Cartagena port, Colombia needing spare

parts from The Netherlands. It was absolutely mandatory that these spares arrived within 24 hours at Cartagena airport, with no transhipping in Bogota. With much of the world shutdown for the holiday season, we knew it was going to be a challenge.

Thanks to trust we have built with our agent partners over the years, we were able to provide a seamless service. Our team managed to book all cargo on a KLM flight into Curacao on Christmas day and there our agent chartered a small aircraft for the short journey onto Cartagena. Despite the odds being stacked against us, we managed to make the delivery on time with the spare parts arriving on board the vessel on Christmas day evening.

Q. What are the challenges facing the freight forwarding industry in The Netherlands and/or the world at the moment?

A. Big challenges; well the industry is changing fast and competition is tough. In the Airfreight industry, we are seeing a large decrease in freighter/maindeck capacity. With new aircrafts, we are gaining tremendous belly capacity which is sold into the market at low cost. Our challenge is to find a match in cargo for a pure freighter service at high yield and substantial turnover on the larger belly capacity with lower yield.

In the end, we just keep doing what we do, providing the best service possible. With the capacity of the group and several different kinds of products, our continuity is secured.

Q. You are registered to attend our annual meeting in May this year. Why in your opinion is attending a network’s annual meeting so important?

A. Logistics remains a people’s business, making new friends and getting to know each other is the basis of long lasting relationships.

Two members of the NBK team, Rini Verhoef and Bud Klein, are attending the annual meeting. It is always great to meet so many agents, partners, friends in one place without travelling across the globe constantly.

Q. What are your goals for the meeting?

A. Work hard, party hard! Our aims are to meet our partners and introduce them to NBK and vice-versa. The knowledge we will gain from the meeting, will ensure we can provide our clients with a higher level of service and cooperation of our agencies around the globe.

THE 3PL SELECTION AND CONTRACTING REPORTThe 3PL Selection and Contracting report breaks-down many of the key components of one of the key connections in supply chain: the LSP-shipper relationship. As someone with interests in the logistics business, I thought you’d find this report highly valuable, as it breaks-down many of the critical topics shippers and LSPs are tackling to achieve success in their respective industries and in collaboration together.

We create the report every year during our research into the 3PL Summit, an executive-level logistics gathering in Chicago. The report represents a thorough analysis of the selection and contracting process of contract logistics from perspective of both logistics service providers and their customers – namely manufacturers and retailers. The report also asks some critical questions on future technology, and the impact this is going to have on the relationship between LSPs and their customers. There’s also an infographic summarizing some of the information for you to read

KEY FINDINGS INCLUDE:

• 40%+ of manufacturers and retailers expect their logistics providers to have some understanding of driverless vehicles

• 19.2% of Manufacturers and Retails are already using 3D printing in their businesses

• 94% of industry executives think drone delivery is inevitable• 43% of industry executives think the Internet of Things will

have a huge impact on supply chain and logistics.• 4% increase in customer dissatisfaction• China remains a primary target for growth for 3PLs and

Customers alike

As an Official Supporting Organisation we encourage you to register a delegation to attend this important event.
