EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Work under this contract consists of the construction of pedestrian facilities in compliance with

the 2010 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Standards. These improvements are located at

signalized intersections and bus stops along K Street NW from the 12th Street intersection to the

21st Street intersection. The project involves reconstruction of pedestrian ramps at the signalized

intersections, addition of accessible pedestrian signals and pushbuttons at each roadway crossing,

removal, reconstruction of existing bus stops and the respective accessible pathways to the bus

stops, and removal/installation of multiple storm drains within the study limits as shown on

project plans and indicated in specifications and special provisions.

Fort Myer received the notice to proceed (NTP) on October 1, 2013, with a contract duration of

365 days.

Construction Items Completed This Week

Continued installation of 2” and 4” concrete encased PVC conduit and installation of

traffic signal foundations and bases at 17th St., NW and Connecticut Ave., NW

Continued reconstruction of accessible ramps at the SW and SE corners at 21st St., NW.

Began reconstruction of accessible ramps at the SW corner and median at 18th St., NW.

Installed various poles, fixtures and streetlights at Vermont Ave., NW, 15th St., NW, 14th

St., NW and 21st St., NW.

Upcoming Construction Activities

Continue reconstruction of accessible ramps at 18th St., NW.

Began reconstruction of accessible ramps at 14th St., NW.

Continue installation of inlets and connect pipes at 17th St., NW and begin installation at

14th St., NW

Continue to install various poles, fixtures and streetlights and work with DDOT

technicians to deactivate/activate new traffic and pedestrian signals.
