FLIGHT MH 370

Our sincere condolences go to the families of all the missing passengersand crew of flight MH 370.The international community is waiting with

bated breath for an answer from the Malaysian government and Boeing. Hopesoon the mystery will be over.

Ever since Charles Lindberg crossed the Atlantic in 1927, air-travel hasbeen revolutionised. Every year some technological innovation in avionicsand communication happen so that today air-travel has also become a pleasure.Lindberg used a mariner’s compass and referred to the world map in hismaiden flight from New York to Paris in 33.5 hours covering 3610 miles.Today’s jet can go around the world in as many hours.

The Boeing 777 series is a trustworthy aircraft that hundreds are used byairlines every day. I am sure that hundreds may be flying at this moment ofwriting this article. Today’s passenger jets are packed with every technologyfor reaching their destinations or face an emergency and survive it. But thereis room for human errors and miscalculations. Lindberg could fly his singlepropeller plane solely depending on his sense of direction and courage. So itis hard to imagine any technical error. That is why deliberate pilot error issuspected. Another possibility is that a cyber-terrorist taking over the controlsof this flight and flying it to its watery grave. We need an answer and we will.

When Jesus was told the event of a tower crushing to death of 18 peoplein Jerusalem he told them that it happened to them as an example to the living. It fell on them not because they were the worst sinners of Jerusalem. We willall perish like them if we don’t repent and accept Jesus as our Saviour. Thisair-tragedy gives us a similar message.

Ephesus was a mighty, proud city. Her religious life, centered around “Diana the great”, made her a

popular city for heathen idolaters. Her hope was built ona lewd, vulgar, immoral religion. But the Gospel hadchanged much of that for men under Paul’s preaching(Acts 19), and a strong church had been established.

After Paul left Ephesus, evil workers sought to spread false doctrines and when Paul returnedto Ephesus with Timothy, he felt the need to leave Timothy with the Ephesians, in the hope thata pastor on the scene could straighten out the erroneous teachings. A good method of correctingerrors is to present a hope - a hope based on Truth. This Paul did in his letter to Timothy,Christ, not Diana, is the Blessed and only Potentate. Christ, not Diana, is Lord, Christ; nor thefables of that day, is Truth. And for a hope to anchor them securely in their faith, Paul said:

The Lord Jesus Christ is our hope (1:1)

The apostle sums up the misery of the worldly in these words, ‘Having no hope’, that is, nowell grounded hope. For there is no hope for anyone, sinner or saint, but in Christ. He laid thefoundation of it in His meritorious, obedience and death. He gave the warrant for it by sendingus His everlasting Gospel. He produced it by giving us the Holy Spirit. We can have no hope ofaccess to God, or acceptance with God, or any spiritual blessings from God but as we receiveChrist, look to His Cross, and believe in His glorious Gospel. Take away Jesus and the mostvirtuous can have no hope; give us Jesus, and on Jesus alone, we shall find Him to be thefoundation which will never give way. Let us live hoping for all necessary good things now andfor everlasting glory at the end of our course. Let us do it for the sake of what Jesus did andsuffered, and we shall never be disappointed. Beloved, is Jesus your hope? Are you hoping formercy in His name and heaven through His blood? If so, look up to God and say--

Behold, His merit is our plea,On Him alone our soul depend; He is our Advocate with You,

The helpless sinner’s powerful Friend.

The Lord Jesus isour only hope

She said nothing, but Leah knew she wouldn’thave done that on her own. She’d just had a bigdose of peer pressure.

By peer we just mean a person just like you,may be your friend, colleague, co-worker orsomeone else who are likely to share similaritiessuch as age, background, and social status. Themembers of this group are likely to influence theperson’s beliefs and behavior. Peers become animportant influence on behavior duringadolescence, and peer pressure has been called ahallmark of an adolescent experience.

Peer pressure is commonly associated withepisodes of adolescent risk taking (such asdelinquency, drug abuse, sexual behaviors, andreckless driving) because these activitiescommonly occur in the company of peers.Wewould take a brief look into it and the biblicalperspective of Peer Pressure.

what is Peer Pressure?Well, let us conduct a quick and funny self-testwhether we face peer pressure or not?

He is risen (Mark 16:6), these three words changed the course of history.Cross is the centrality of Christianity. The death and resurrection of Jesus

Christ is the core of Christian doctrines and way of life. Mankind cannot ignorethe passion and suffering of Christ. His sufferings are described in all the Gospels.

Jesus was flogged (Mark 15:15) He was Mocked, calling him “Hail, king ofthe Jews” (Mark 15:18) crown of thorns set it on him (Mark 15:17), theystruck him on the head with a staff, they spit on him (Mark 15:19). Finally theycrucified him between two robbers at a hill called Golgotha. The passion anddeath of Christ reminds us the well known chorus.

Lest I forget Gethsemane

Lest I forget his agony

Lest I forget his love for me

Lead me to Calvary

The Bible says... that Christ died for our sins according to the scripturesand that He was buried and that he was raised on the third day according to thescriptures...( I Corinthians 15: 2-3)

Death could not hold him. He was risen. Today the empty tomb in Palestinedeclares the power of resurrection. “The reason my father loves me is that I laydown my life -only to take it up again. I have authority to lay down and authorityto take it up again (John 10: 17-18)

His death and resurrection demands us to surrender our lives for the glory ofGod.

Love so amazing, so divine,

Demands my soul

My life my all

He is Risen!

Test of

Spirituality“Lovest thou me more than these?” – John 21:15

We know that Peter was entrusted the greattask to feed the sheep only after hisconfirmation of love to Jesus. Beforecrucifixion, Peter had denied the Lord threetimes. Yet, when Jesus entrusted Peter withthe feeding of His Sheep, He made no referenceto any of those weaknesses. He did not evenchallenge him to be humble and prayerful infuture, nor did He ask Peter’s willingness towitness boldly facing any persecution. He didnot ask Peter any such questions or warnedabout the chances of his life being in jeopardy!

Jesus knew well that just one simplequestion would be sufficient. If that questionfound a true response, everything else wouldautomatically follow: “Lovest me more thaneverything and everyone else…?”

Love for Christ is the real test of anybody’sspirituality. If a man has attained a high rank inchurch hierarchy, he need not be a spiritualman, just because of his designation alone.Possessions of theological degrees andresearches done for years is no guarantee forspirituality. Infact, pseudo-spirituality may cause more harm than non-spirituality.

Dress code and pious appearance may often deceive and mislead people. Evenzeal for evangelization may not be the real mark of true spirituality. Often we seethat the so called spiritual realm is “full of sound and fury, signifying nothing!”

As we are living in the last days, there is every chance of being misguided byhypocritical people wearing the mask of spirituality. Very often, trends and practicesin cults try to attract people with no definite convictions or real relation with theliving God. In short, the test of genuine spirituality is only one thing: the extent ofour love for God. Ultimately relation with God is what counts and it is between youand God!

In the quietness…In the stillness…In the brokenness…There’s a still, small voice.

When the heart is grieved,When the soul is troubled,When the burdens are doubled,There’s a still, small voice.

When no one else is around,When ego is bent aground,When fear and sorrows abound,There’s a still, small voice.

When there’s no strength left,When there’s no comfort felt,When there’s no voice to lift,There’s a still, small voice.

When there’s nothing to give,When there’s none to forgive,When there’s no reason to JiveThere’s a still, small voice.

A voice so living…A voice so refreshing…A voice so comforting…It’ s His still, small voice…

Chandigarh: ICPF Chandigarh conducted a three days “Child Enrichment Program”for school going kids from March 23 to 25 at Mount Carmel School, Chandigarh. The theme of the camp was “Go Ahead” upon which stories and action songs weremade. 90 kids attended the camp and the toil of our student leaders, youth andseniors brought its result. The colorful closing ceremony included kids stage programsin front their parents and pastors of the try-city and sermon delivered by Dr. JohnsonDaniel (New Life Bible Seminary). ICPF senior forum evaluated this work as groundbreaking since they could see lot of student leaders of tomorrow in this potentialgroup.
