Chamber Music International

offers Violin up for bid at Annual Gala

Saturday April 21, 2007 On Saturday April 21st Chamber Music International will be hosting our Annual Fund-Raising Gala with Live and Silent Auctions, Casino Night and Texas Hold’em Tournament, along with Dinner, and Entertainment. More information on this will follow in future press releases. As a preview of one of the fantastic auction items that will be offered at this event, we are pre-announcing a beautiful violin that has been donated to CMI by Frisco Strings to be auctioned-off at this event. This violin is a German 4/4 violin labeled “Johan Krause 1898”. Following is a quote by Phil Lewis, founder and artistic director of CMI, regarding the Krause violin. "I played on the Krause violin that was so generously donated to the Chamber Music International Fundraiser and Auction and was very impressed with the quality. It has a rich and even tone with the kind of projection that is generally only found on the older Italian and French instruments. This instrument could be used for solos, chamber music, and the orchestral work of any professional, major symphony orchestra." Philip Lewis--Professor of Violin and Chamber Music at the University of North Texas and Artistic Director of Chamber Music International The opening bid on this instrument will start at an amazingly low $2,500! If you or a student of yours is in the market for a new or upgraded high-quality violin, this is a definite must-see. Peter Harrington, of Frisco Strings, is available by appointment for you to audition the instrument. If you would like to try out the instrument anytime prior to the April 21st auction, please give him a call at 214-505-9463 or e-mail him at [email protected] to set up an appointment.

This offer made possible through a generous donation from Frisco Strings, a provider of intermediate and advanced quality string instruments for sale or lease

What is Cooperative Arts News?

The Mission: The CAN organization was created for the purpose of helping cooperative member arts organizations build audiences by supporting each other. CAN will send notifications to list mem-bers with news of member organizations' upcoming events and other arts news of interest. The Rules: 1) Since this is a "cooperative" of arts organizations supporting each other, member groups who would like to post notices, agree to "receive" notifications from other member groups in return. Individuals will have the option at any time to "opt-out" if they choose not to receive future notifications by e-mailing the list manager. 2) In order to preserve the integrity and quality of the postings to this list and to prevent any un-wanted "Spamming", all notifications that member groups want to send through this notification list must come through the list manager. Groups simply send an e-mail notification to the list manager with a descriptive write-up and it will be sent. If there are multiple notifications that need to go out, they may be grouped together in "digest" format to reduce the number of e-mails that are sent to the list. If at anytime, you would like to be removed from this e-mail list or if you are a new organization that would like to join, please e-mail the list manager and your request will be acted upon in a timely man-ner. As always, thank-you for supporting the performing arts in the DFW area! Regards, David Witherspoon List Manager [email protected]
