ET FISH BITES The Marlins open a six-game road swing with the first of three games against the Colorado Rockies tonight at 8:40 ET. RHP Tom Koehler is making his fourth career start and appearance against the Rockies, going 1-0 with a 2.14 ERA. He has gone 7.0 innings in each of his previous three starts, with each game being decided by two-or-fewer runs. The Rockies are sending out Eddie Butler, who is making his first career start against the Fish. Following this series, Miami’s road swing will continue north of the border, with the Marlins taking on the Toronto Blue Jays in a three-game set from Monday-Wednesday. Miami comes into this trip off a quick three-game homestand that saw the Fish take two of three from the Chicago Cubs, and is now 5-5 in its last 10 games. VS. THE ROCKIES The Marlins claimed the 2014 series, 4-3, taking three of four at Marlins Park and one of three at Coors Field. Since 2012, the Fish are 6-5 in the Mile High City, but have gone just 36-54 all-time in Denver. Overall, Miami leads the all-time se- ries, 91-87. In eight career games against the Rox, Marcell Ozuna has hit in all eight career games against Colorado, batting .469 (15x32) with two doubles, two home runs and seven RBI. Giancarlo Stanton has launched 11 home runs against the Rockies, while batting at a .336 clip (38x113) with 12 doubles and 36 RBI in 31 games; his streak of seven straight games with an RBI against the Rockies is tied with Jay Bruce (vs. HOU) and Ryan Braun (vs. TOR) for the longest active streak in the Majors vs. one opponent. The Fish sent nine men to the plate in a four-run, six-hit second inning, with runs coming home on a double by J.T. Realmuto and singles by Adeiny Hechavarria, Dee Gordon and Martin Prado. In the fifth, Miami scored two more runs on back-to-back home runs by Giancarlo Stanton and Jeff Baker, the second time that pair has gone back-to-back in the last five games. Mathis went on the DL with a fractured bone in his right hand on April 13. In nine rehab games between Triple-A New Orleans and Double-A Jacksonville, he went 5x27 with a double and two RBI. MILE HIGH MASTERY Only five times at Coors Field has a Marlins starting pitcher gone 7.0+ innings and allowed three-or-fewer runs while issuing no walks, and the last two belong to Tom Koehler. In his first career start at Coors, he allowed one run in 7.0 in- nings on July 22, 2013, and his second outing saw him surrender three runs in 7.0 innings on August 23, 2014. - Stats LLC SINGLES SEASON The Fish rank second among National League teams with 358 singles, trailing the Giants’ 366. Tom Koehler makes his fourth straight start today, his 11th of the season, after a brief bullpen stint. He is coming off a 2014 season that saw him go 10-10 with a 3.81 ERA in 32 starts. Led entire staff in strikeouts with 153, while ranking second in ERA behind Henderson Alvarez’s 2.65 (min. 15 starts) and second in innings pitched (191.1) behind Nathan Eovaldi (199.2).

He is making his fourth career appearance and start against the Rockies, posting 1-0, 2.14 (21.0 ip/5 er) career marks. All three outings against Colorado have been quality starts, and has gone 7.0 innings in each. His most recent start against the Rox was on August 23, 2014 at Coors Field, where he did not factor in the decision, allowing three runs on eight hits (one home run), with four strikeouts. His lone win against Rockies came in his first start against them, on July 22, 2013 at Coors Field (7.0 ip, 8 h, r, er, hr, 7 so).

In 16 career appearances (15 starts) against the NL West, owns a 6-4 record with 2.86 ERA (91.1/29). His 2.86 mark ranks fifth among all starters (since 2013, min. 15 GS) and second-best among non-NL West pitchers, behind Francisco Liriano’s 2.75 ERA (15 GS).

On May 1 vs. Philadelphia, struck out season-high six batters. Did not earn decision after allowing three runs on four hits (one home run) and two walks over 5.0 innings.

Recorded four straight starts to open the 2014 season with at least 6.0 innings and no more than two runs allowed. That tied Kevin Brown (1997) for the Club record for consecutive starts of 6.0 innings and two-or-fewer runs to open a season, ac-cording to STATS LLC.

Went 3-2, 1.99 through first seven starts, while teammate Jose Fernandez went 4-1, 1.74. Became first teammates in Club history to have winning records with ERA under 2.00 through first seven starts.

Finished season with 2.81 ERA (102.1 ip/32 er) vs. NL East, the fifth-best mark among his division counterparts (min. 15 GS), behind Henderson Alvarez (2.20), Cole Hamels (2.43), Julio Teheran (2.50) and Jordan Zimmermann (2.59). Had a 4.96 ERA (89.0/49) vs. all other teams.

On May 7, 2014 at Marlins Park, tied a career high with 8.0 innings pitched against the New York Mets. Also went 8.0 innings on May 29, 2013 vs. Tampa Bay and September 15, 2013 at Citi Field.
