Development of digital graphics most vehement in embedded systems
Graphics performance of embedded devices, like smartphones and tablets, is growing in importance• The global smartphones market is growing rapidly. Growth in 2011 for
example was 61 per cent (source: IDC)
• Devices are used graphically for more and more demanding applications such as games, video, image editing etc.
Calculation of the graphics chip performance is not enough, there is a need for more comprehensive information• Accuracy, stability, compatibility with the standards etc.
Test information is needed by both chip manufacturers and end user product manufacturers• Product manufacturers can test the products for development and quality
assurance purposes
• Manufacturers of end user products can test and
compare the components

Cost-efficient and accurate testing for the manufacturers and users of GPUs
drawElements Quality Program (dEQP) is a software solution for testing the quality and features of GPU• Tests the quality of executing graphics and programming interfaces
against the OpenGL ES 2.0 standard
Cost-efficient solution• Brings efficiency to the testing and frees up resources to other, more
value-adding development.
• Can be integrated into testing systems that are already in use
Unique solution• No comparable products in the markets, competitors are mainly chip
manufacturers' own in-house test systems

Strong cluster born out of Finnish graphics expertise
Two new product development projects were implemented in the Tekes Ubicom programme for developing the dEQP basic technology
Relative to the population, Finland has an exceptionally strong concentration of computer graphics expertise• During the 1990's top Finnish companies that were specialised in GPU
performance measurement were sold to major international actors
• drawElements is continuing this tradition
• Success of the Finnish gaming industry is also partly related to the graphics expertise
