CONTENTS
Hello and welcome to a brand new season of fantastic Summer shows here at the Corn Exchange and New Greenham ArtsAs always, we have a huge variety of amazing performances and different events for you to come along and enjoy. Not least two spectacular outdoor events; our own production based on Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, along with the welcome return of circus company NoFitState and their incredible troupe of performers who will take to the streets in Open House. These events form part of our free outdoor performance programme and we are hugely grateful to our funders Arts Council England and Greenham Common Trust who make it possible for us to present these remarkable events here in Newbury. Moving back indoors, and I’m thrilled that this season we’re going to be able to bring you some extraordinary circus performers in our venues (as well as outside!). Our programming team were lucky enough to see the Barely Methodical Troupe and their show Bromance at the Edinburgh Festival last Summer and it came top of our list of shows to make sure we were able to present at the Corn Exchange. I’m also really excited that Idle Motion will be returning with their beautiful and inventive staging of That Is All You Need To Know which tells the stories of the Enigma codebreakers at Bletchley Park. And we will of course continue to play host to the Newbury Spring Festival and their acclaimed programme of classical music, as well as bringing you the very best in live broadcast events, family shows (including the return of our very own #GenerationZ family festival), dance, popular music, magic and some of the best comedy this country has to offer. This season has been a real chance for me to look back on my time here at the Corn Exchange and reflect on the success and changes the organisation has been through over the last few years, because I am shortly going to be taking some time off on maternity leave. Grant Brisland will be taking over as Director while I am away, and I know the theatre will continue to thrive under his leadership. Thank you as ever for your support, we look forward to welcoming you again soon.

451 PRESENTED BY CORN EXCHANGE, NEWBURY AND PERIPLUM
Friday 17 and Saturday 18 April | 9pm Shaw House, Newbury | FREE
Reading is forbidden, all literature is outlawed…
Inspired by Ray Bradbury’s visionary novel Fahrenheit 451, this incendiary outdoor performance explores the story of a society where books are banned and firemen are employed to burn them. 451 is a 360-degree surround performance, combining immersive sound installation with high octane dramatic action and pyrotechnics. 451 depicts a dystropic society, where people seek happiness in a world of technology and acts of violence are rewarded.Bradbury’s classic text has proven prophetic - reflected in the rise of the iPad, surveillance, interactive media, the televised pursuit of fugitives, global consumerism and the continuing radical power of the written word. As we witness a rise in monitoring and attacks on freedom of speech, we might even believe that there could be a future where books may once again hold a secret knowledge...
Tickets FREE | #451NewburyAge guide: 12+ Contains scenes that may not be suitable for some children
Shaw House has very limited parking – please see website for more details
451 has been commissioned by Without Walls, Brighton Festival, Greenwich+Docklands International Festival and Norfolk and Norwich Festival. Produced at 101 Outdoor Arts Creation Space

The musical satirists acclaimed 2014 Edinburgh Fringe show on tour!
"I'm a skeptic. But don't take my word for it. Or indeed anybody's. For anything...." and this is the basic premise of Mitch's new critically acclaimed show. It's a show that will make you laugh a lot and think a bit as well, as Mitch debunks myths, exposes nonsense and grapples with the very nature of knowledge itself, extolling the virtues of an evidence-based approach to life....with amusing consequences and of course a few songs along the way.
