CORPORATE PHILOSOPHY
Mission
The mission of Takeda Consumer Healthcare is to continue to contribute
to the extension of healthy life expectancy by delivering “excellent
products and timely, accurate information” to our customers who want to
“live healthy”.
In the Japanese market, we will continue to nurture and
protect core brands such as Alinamin and Benza. We will enter
new fields, including Rx-to-OTC switching, general use testing
kits, health foods, and medicinal cosmetics. These fields will
comprise a substantial part of our portfolio by 2020.
Starting with Asia, we will pursue business opportunities
overseas. We will develop a base of customers for products
such as Alinamin and Hicee, and secure a lasting increase in
market share in foreign markets. We will establish in Asia the
same positive brand value we have created in Japan.
Our industry is constantly changing, and so are the health and
beauty needs of our customers. We will always stay alert to
new needs, even those that customers themselves are not yet
aware of. We will swiftly provide products that match these
needs ahead of our competitors.
To make this happen, every part of our organization will work
together to the best of our ability in a common cause. We will
endeavor to reward employees that share our sense of mission.
We will create an environment in which all of our people,
regardless of department, organization, or country, are able to
face the challenges of the future without fear of failure.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Our mission at Takeda Consumer Healthcare is to continue
to contribute to the extension of healthy life expectancy
by delivering our brand of excellent products and reliable
information to people who want to enjoy long-lasting health
and lead active lives.
While Japan has the highest life expectancy in the world,
the country is also facing the issue of a rapidly declining
population due to a falling birth rate and an aging society.
By 2025, all the post-war baby boomers will have turned 75
and, in 2040, the number of elderly people will peak as the
following generation reaches the age of 65.
According to estimates of social security benefit costs,
medical expenses in 2040 will increase from the current 40
trillion yen to approximately 70 trillion yen, while the working
population (15 to 64-year-olds) is expected to decrease by
about 17%.
In this context, extending healthy life expectancy is an urgent
issue for Japan, and the government has set a goal to extend
them by at least three years by 2040.
By using the knowledge and experience in pharmaceuticals
we have accumulated in the 239 years since the founding of
Takeda Pharmaceutical, we strive to support people's health
in realms such as self-care and self-medication through our
brand of excellent products and reliable information.
Our growth strategy is based on the customer-first perspective
that comes from our vision. In addition, all of our divisions
will work together effectively to develop initiatives focused
on the following four strategic themes that are pivotal to our
growth:
As a member of the Takeda Group, we at Takeda Consumer
Healthcare will continue to remain faithful to our Brand
Promise through contributing to people's health by continuing
to deliver excellent products and reliable information.

HISTORY
Our corporate brand symbol, known as Dakiyama, originates
from Takeda's first brand symbol, Dakiyama Hon, which was
used when Chobei Takeda’s first store was established in 1781.
Chobei established his business under the Omiya brand
that had employed him as an apprentice. Omiya was known
by the original Dakiyama symbol, the outer frame of which
depicts two mountains, one on top and one inverted below,
representing the mountain that Chobei would have to cross
twice when traveling from his hometown of Omi (now Shiga
Prefecture) to his business base in Osaka, and back home
Takeda's Corporate Brand Symbol: Dakiyama (Embracing Mountains)
again. Chobei adopted this symbol and incorporated his
family’s kanji character (hon), meaning "true" or "main" in
Japanese, placing it in the center of the Dakiyama. It is said
that he did this as a mark of respect toward his own family
that had supported him - although another theory is that it
represented his ambition for his own business to become the
"main" company. The current Dakiyama symbol is an updated
and modernized version created in 1961 to celebrate the
180th anniversary of the founding of Takeda.
