Message from the Pastor Jesus Christ speaks of giving us a different kind of bread, as we have read in the past few Sundays. It is not plain flour bread. It’s not the bread that can be bought at the store to satisfy some physical need. It’s a different kind of bread that satisfy that interior hunger for peace, joy and human dignity. Such hunger is not satisfied by regular, material bread. There are many who never suffer physical hunger, yet they have a great emptiness in their hearts. Some others, although they eat little because they lack the means, carry within themselves a great peace and richness. The Lord once told the story of the rich man who held daily banquets, while the poor man Lazarus begged for the scraps that fell off the table. When both died, things changed. The rich man, from hell, begged for poor Lazarus to come down from heaven to give him a little water. In the Eucharist we have the bread Jesus brought, the bread that came from heaven to give us eternal life. It is within our reach. This weekend let us think of all those who suffer both physical and spiritual hunger in our society. Let us think of all those who live separated and alone, without the support of a united family. And let us think with faith in the words of the Lord who cries out: “Eat my flesh and drink my blood, so you will have life.”

Mensaje del Párroco Jesucristo nos habla de darnos otra clase de pan. Lo hemos leído estos últimos domingos. No es el pan de harina. No es el pan del mercado que alivia una necesidad física. Es otro pan, el que viene a aliviar el hambre inte-rior de paz, de alegría, de dignidad humana. Esta hambre no se sacia con el pan material. Hay muchos que jamás tienen hambre física, pero que sufren en el corazón un vacío muy grande. Hay otros que, aunque comen escasa-mente porque no hay dinero, tienen una gran paz y riqueza dentro de sí. El Señor contó una vez la historia de un rico que tenía banquete a diario, mientras un pobre llamado Lázaro pedía que le dieran las migajas que caían de la mesa. Cuando los dos murieron, las cosas cambiaron. El rico, desde el infierno, suplicaba que el pobre Lázaro ba-jara desde el cielo para llevarle un poco de agua. Nosotros tenemos en la Eucaristía, el pan que nos trajo Jesús, pan bajado del cielo para la vida eterna. Está al alcance de nuestra mano. En este fin de semana, pensemos en todos cuantos tienen hambre física y espiritual en nuestra sociedad actual. Pensemos en todos los que viven separados y solos, sin el soporte de una familia unida. Y pensemos con fe en las palabras del Señor que nos grita: “Coman mi carne y beban mi sangre, así tendrán la vida”.
