    a. Making Ohio Star block, using (1848-03 / 1850-02 /

    1897-1) as example.

    Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of 1 (4 1/4) 1897-1

    square. Place square, right sides together, on 1 (4 1/4)

    1850-02square. Sew 1/4 away from, on the right and left

    sides of, drawn line. Cut along drawn line to yield two half-

    square triangle units (HST).

    Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of 1 HST unit. With

    contrasting triangle patches, place 1 HST on the other HST,

    right sides together. Sew 1/4 away from, on the right and

    left sides of, drawn line. Cut along drawn line to yield two

    quarter-square triangle units (QST). Repeat to make a total

    Arrange and sew into a row 2 (3 1/2) 1850-02squares and

    1 QST unit. Repeat to make a total of two rows.

    Arrange and sew into a row 1 (3 1/2) 1848-03square and 2

    QST units.

    Sew rows together to complete Ohio Star block center.

    b. Add 1 (3 1/2 x 6 1/2) 1848-03rectangle to the top of

    block center.

    Add 1 (3 1/2 x 9 1/2) 1848-03to the left of the block

    center to complete 1 block.

    c. Repeat to make a total of four blocks in the following

    colorways, noting the placement of Ohio Star block center if

    fabrics are directional.

    c. #5. Sew 2 (1 1/2 x 58 1/2) 1896-2strips to the

    5. Inner Border #6.

    a. Making Shoo Fly block, using 1851-02block as

    example.

    Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of 1 (2 7/8)1854-

    04square. Place square, right sides together, on 1 (2 7/8)

    1851-02square. Sew 1/4 away, on right and left sides of,drawn line. Cut along drawn line to yield 2 HST units.

    Repeat to make a total of 4 HST units.

    Sew 2 HST units and 1 (1 1/2 x 2 1/2) 1850-04rectangle

    into a row, as shown. Repeat to make a total of two rows.

    Sew 2 (1 1/2 x 2 1/2) 1850-04rectangles and 1 (1 1/2)

    1851-02square into a row.

    Arrange and sew the blocks together to complete one block.

    b. Repeat to make a total of blocks in the following

    colorways. Only the varying sku is listed (the 1850-04and

    1854-04patches remain the same.
