Dear friends and neighbours,
We're turning the corner into March and remain deep in
winter's grip!
My Transit and Transportation Town Hall was a lively and
informative night thanks in no small part to the great
questions posed by Ward 25ers! For anyone who missed it,
you can check out the evening's presentations from TTC
CEO Andy Byford and Metrolinx CEO Bruce McCuaig
at http://jayerobinson.ca/transit-town-hall/.
It was lively and informative event thanks in no small part to
the great questions posed by Ward 25ers!
Public consultation meetings are set for March 3 and March
17 to discuss the creation of a Local Appeal Body (LAB).
I worked hard to get Toronto's LAB study off the ground and
I'm pleased to see it moving into the public consultation
phase!
I'd like to hear from you about the future of the eastern
section of the Gardiner Expressway. City staff recently
released a report on the future of the Gardiner from Jarvis to
Logan and the issue will come before City Council in early
April. I've included a link to the report below!

upcoming city wide and Ward 25 events and public
meetings!
Warm regards,
With TTC CEO Andy Byford, Metrolinx CEO Bruce McCuaig and Transportation Services GM
Stephen Buck ley following my Transit and Transportation Town Hall
Transit and Transportation Town Hall
I am pleased to report that my Ward 25 Transit and Transportation Town Hall, which took place
last Tuesday at Lawrence Park Community Church, was a big success!
I brought the city's top transit and transportation officials, TTC CEO Andy Byford, Metrolinx CEO
Bruce McCuaig and Transportation Services GM Stephen Buckley, to Ward 25 to answer your
questions and address your issues.
It was an interesting, informative and encouraging evening, and we heard about all of the work the
-
city and the province are doing to tackle Toronto's congestion problem.
I was particularly excited about the discussion surrounding the Yonge relief line I made it clear
that it was his number one priority.
As we learned from the Q&A, there is more to be done, but we are taking action.
You can check out Andy Byford and Bruce McCuaig's presentations at
http://jayerobinson.ca/transit-town-hall/.
Thank you to all who attended and brought excellent questions!
Local Appeal Body Public Consultation
Public consultations are underway on creating a Local Appeal Body (LAB). The LAB would hear
appeals from the Committee of Adjustment, replacing the Ontario Municipal Board in the context
of minor variance and consent applications.
The North York meeting is on Monday, March 3, 7 p.m. at North York Civic Centre and the
central meeting on Monday, March 17, 7 p.m. at Metro Hall.
The public consultations will feed into a long awaited and highly anticipated staff report one that
I have pushed hard for over the course of the term that is expected to recommend that the city
establish a LAB. I encourage you to come out and have your
say. Check out www.toronto.ca/localappealbody for more information!
Ice Storm Review Consultation
As I mentioned in my last eNewsletter, there was significant room for improvement in the city and
Toronto Hydro's response to the December ice storm.
At January's City Council meeting, I voted for a full and comprehensive review of that response,
including actions to improve the city's response to extreme weather events in the future. Toronto
Hydro also announced it assembled an Independent Review Panel to evaluate its storm response.
Both reviews are well underway.
The city is hosting public town hall meetings on behalf of Toronto Hydro's Independent Review
Panel to gather feedback on Toronto Hydro's service during the storm.
The North York town hall is scheduled for Thursday March 6, 7 p.m. at the North York Civic
Centre.
Those attending can provide a three-minute comment to the panel on how Toronto Hydro can
improve its response to extreme weather events.
-
If you are unable to attend in person, you can also provide feedback to the panel via email at
Gardiner East Study
Earlier this week, city staff released a report on the joint City of Toronto and Waterfront Toronto
study on the future of the eastern portion of the Gardiner Expressway from Jarvis to Logan.
City staff reviewed four options for the future of the eastern section of the Gardiner: maintain,
improve, replace or remove. You can read the full report here.
The report will go to the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee next week and is expected to
come before City Council for a final vote in early April.
I will be watching the committee proceedings closely and fully reviewing the report before it comes
to Council.
If you havent already, I'd appreciate hearing from you on this issue your feedback is integral to
my decision making process.
Just send me an email at [email protected] or call my office at 416-395-6408 and
let me know what you think!
