Meanwhile, Rich- field took out Nez Perce (41-30) and Mackay (41- 32) to reach the State Championship, putting two Lincoln County teams up for the final game. It was a tight game but in the end Richfield came out on top, winning the 1AD2 Championship 48 to 41. This past weekend the Richfield girls turned their district win into an- other State Championship in 1AD2 Basketball. In the Northside Con- ference Tournament, the Richfield Tigers squeaked by Dietrich in the second round (40 to 39) and went on to beat Castleford in the championship game. Not being a team that quits trying, Dietrich went on to defeat Light- house (51 to 37), and Castleford (59 to 47) to take second place in the district tournament. On March 2, 2010, the North Canyon Medical Center (NCMC) opened the doors to the new hospital at the south end of Gooding. While there have been a number of changes since the original open- ing, the commitment to serving the health care needs of Gooding and the surrounding area has remained the same. Next Monday, March 2nd, you are invited to the 5 Year Anniversary Celebration of the North Canyon Medical Center. From 11:45 to 1:30 appe- tizers, featuring food from around the world, will be served and at 12:15, Good- ing Mayor Walt Nelson will be the guest speaker. This event is open to the public and no RSVP is needed. If you desire more information, please call 208-934-8829. The weather will be cloudy with a slight chance of snow/rain over the next few days, but Monday is expected to be sunny and cold. So, be sure to dress warmly. Sign-Up For Hunter Ed. NOW Every autumn as the leaves begin to change, thousands of Idahoans be- gin to focus on one thing: heading to the back coun- try to hunt. If you are new to hunting, you must first complete a hunter educa- tion course. Far too often, new comers learn that they have waited too long to sign up, and finding a class is difficult. “Seating is limited and classes fill quickly,” said Hunter Education and Re- cruitment Manager, Brenda Beckley. “Get signed up in a course early. Don’t wait until fall.” By state law, Idahoans born on or after January 1, 1975 must attend and suc- cessfully complete a hunter education course before purchasing an Idaho hunt- ing license or provide proof that they held a valid hunt- ing license in another state. For aspiring young hunt- ers, we recommend the traditional instructor-led course. These classes are taught over a two-week pe- riod by volunteer instruc- tors. Students must pass a American Legion Crab Feed at the Fairfield Legion Hall February 28th at 7 p.m. (dungeon opens at 5:30) Dinner is almost sold out! Tickets are $35 each and available at Valley Service (764-2223), Iron Mountain Inn (764-3444), Soldier Creek Brewing (764-2739), and from Dwight Butlin (358-2214).
