COVID-19 Safe Plan for the return to classroom-based learning
2 | COVID-19 Safe plan for the return to classroom-based learning
Secondary SchoolStart times Start times for Secondary School have been amended for the remainder of Term 2. This is to give us the flexibility we need as we adjust to the return of all students.
• Monday to Thursday, 8:50am start: Students are to proceed directly to their Mentor Groups. o Assembly will take place online, 9am Mondays. o Chapel will take place online, 9am Wednesdays.• Friday, 8.30am start: Students are to proceed directly to their Mentor Groups.
Finish timeThere is no change to the Secondary School finish time. The day will conclude at 3pm.
Arriving and leaving CollegeMorning drop-offPrep students, and their siblings, can continue to be dropped off at the side access road where parents can ‘kiss and drop’. Staff will be there to escort our Preps to their classroom.
Location for morning drop-off is flexible for all students. Drop-off can occur at the side access road, or at the top carpark outside the Aquatic Centre where parents can ‘kiss and drop’ or park and walk into Lanes Café. Staff will also be here to escort our Prep students to their classroom.
Parents are requested not to enter the College grounds beyond the pick-up/drop-off access points.
Afternoon pick-upTo assist with social distancing requirements and the subsequent increase in congestion, lower Primary School students (Prep to Year 3) will finish the school day at 2.50pm to enable a 2.55pm pick-up.
• Prep and Year 2 students are to be picked up from the side pick-up zone at 2.55pm.• Year 1 and 3 students can be picked up from the top pick-up zone (outside Aquatic Centre) at 2.55pm. Years 4 to 6 students with siblings in lower Primary can finish class at 2.50pm to meet their youngest sibling at the respective pick-up area. All other students from Years 4 to 12 should be picked up from the top pick-up zone from 3.10pm. This will allow students time to make their way up to the carpark and help ease congestion.
Please note the following:• Do not arrive before the designated pick-up time as it simply causes congestion. • Prep to Year 3 parents who wish to park, can park and then walk to the pick-up zones allocated.• Years 4 to 12 parents are asked not to arrive early and fill the carpark. Please wait until after 3.10pm
when the lower Primary students have departed. • Students will be safely supervised at pick-up zones until 3.30pm.
3 | COVID-19 Safe plan for the return to classroom-based learning
Before and after school supervisionThe Hub is open 7.00am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and 7.00am to 5.00pm on Friday. Students from Year 5 to 12 are welcome to use the Hub before and after school.

concerns about COVID-19.• Primary School students who are at home will continue to have access to the educational applications on
their device. Parents can check with individual teachers regarding access to resources. • Secondary School students who stay home for personal reasons will be able to listen in on their classes
via Teams, however please note this will not be a recorded ‘live Teams’ lesson.
During the school daySocial distancing and hygiene• Social distancing and hygiene protocols will be followed as per the government’s health guidelines. • Large school gatherings will not be held. Assemblies and chapels will continue to be held online.• Hand washing/sanitising and distancing from staff is still required.• Playgrounds and other school equipment will be wiped down and cleaned regularly.• While water bubblers have been cleared for use by Queensland Health, we strongly encourage students

Co-curricularThe co-curricular program at St Andrew’s offers a wide range of opportunities for our students. The College has a very successful program that offers broad opportunities enabling students to experience grit and perseverance all while pursuing their personal best in whatever endeavour they enjoy.
Due to restrictions related to COVID-19, some activities have had to amend the way they operate during Weeks 6-10 of Term Two (Monday 25 May till Friday 19 June).
Please note, parents are not permitted on campus to supervise, spectate or visit any co-curricular activity that is taking place. For more information about our co-curricular program contact Mr Andrew Eunson.
Co-curricular music• 1:1 and 2:1 Instrumental Music Lessons will take place as per normal.
Ensemble rehearsals• Ensemble directors will use a combination of face-to-face, video and sectional rehearsals during
Weeks 6-9 to continue engagement in all ensembles. • Ensemble rehearsal times for Weeks 6-9 are detailed on the next page.
Hygiene• Music IM and Ensemble rehearsal rooms will be cleaned thoroughly each day in addition to the normal
individual hygiene procedures during the day. • A rehearsal plan with enhanced measures to minimise droplet transmission will be implemented.
Co-curricular sport• The College will adopt the ten-person group rule in line with the community guidelines for sport.• The ten-person rule includes all players, coaches, spectators and any other person who attends the
gathering (e.g. nine participants and coach). • All activities are on the College campus.• All Term 2 sport activities are non-contact and will not involve matches or games.• Co-curricular sport times for Weeks 6-9 are detailed on page 7.

All other co-curricular In addition to our dynamic Sport, Music and Arts programs, the College offers a wide range of activities including Climbing, Drama Groups, Performing Arts, Debating, Tournament of the Minds, Chess, Art Club, Spanish Club, Chinese Club, Make-It Space, STEM, Readers Cup, Robotics, Eco Warriors, Eco Saints, Photography Club, Design Tech Masterclass, Future Problem Solving, Kokoda Challenge, Da Vinci decathlon, Duke of Edinburgh and Soup Kitchen.
Detailed information regarding these activities will be sent to students separately by activity leaders. Please also refer to following guidelines:• General classroom procedures are in place for any activity indoors i.e. no more than 30 students in
normal classroom spaces.• Climbing will not recommence until Term 3.
Aquatic CentreInitial opening plans are to operate with a maximum of 10 people in the pool area, including staff and patrons. Normal health and safety guidelines will be followed. A second qualified pool lifeguard will be on site for emergency response, but not located in the pool area.
In line with COVID-19 health and safety requirements, change rooms will not be available for use unless there are special conditions. The approach to training should focus on ‘get in, train, get out’, minimising unnecessary contact in change rooms, bathrooms and communal areas.
Swimmers will be collected by a staff member from an allocated area outside the Aquatic Centre and escorted into the centre through the main entrance. Swimmers will exit through a separate exit. Groups will be staggered to ensure that only nine swimmers will be in the venue at one time and there is sufficient change over time.
