SOFT BOGGY SITES. THE RIG HAS VERY LOW GROUND BEARING PRESSURE DUE TO THE WIDTH OF THE TRACKS.

In Situ has a wide range of rigs which meet the clients varied CPT requirements often in difficult terrains. Projects may require CPT testing in areas which range from motorways to rugged mountainous terrain, to offshore work; the access to the projects may often be restricted for manoeuvring.

HUMBER, ENGLANDThe site had been identified for the installation of a windfarm, this site was on agricultural land, this land was unsuitable for a wheeled CPT rig however the crawler rig was suitable to handle the terrain.
This project involved 2 Cone Penetration Tests and a Seismic Dilatometer test at each of the 12 wind turbine locations. In addition to the In situ testing a borehole was also carried out at each location.
Over a period of 2 weeks, the crawler performed well, sometimes in very wet ploughed fields. The client was impressed by the amount and quality of data obtained from the CPTU and the seismic dilatometer.
