The Fellowship Programme ObjectiveTo help build capacity and provide support to people interested in improving the interface between research-

based knowledge and policy for the sustainable management of water resources in the Mekong

basin.

First call: April 1st, 2011

• Five grants @ US$10,000• Must complement CPWF

Mekong program.• Grant period = 1 year.• Open to anyone.• Concept notes will be reviewed

by independent panel.

Focus areas• How do Chinese officials and agencies view

the Mekong-related interests of downstream countries?

• What is the performance to date of the basin's river basin organisations (excluding the MRC) and how can their performance be improved?

• In what ways does hydropower decision-making and administration need to be improved in the Mekong?

‘Complementary projects’

• Grant of US$2.5 million.• Project size: US$100,000-500,000.• Must complement CPWF Mekong Program.• Must end before December, 2013.• Focus areas not yet established.• Must demonstrate research-for-development.• About 50% commissioned, 50% competitive.

‘Complimentary projects’

• CPWF will give favour and support to national partners.

• Must be cross-sectoral/cross-departmental/ cross-ministerial.

• Favour given to cross-boundary projects.• First call in June, 2011.

The CPWF invites Provincial and National Authorities to discussions partnerships, and the

possible focus of complimentary projects.
