N SIX REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD

    NEUTER YOUR PET..

    1. Neutering prevents females

    coming into season, when they

    may attract unwanted male

    attention, become pregnant or

    have false pregnancies.

    2. Neutering prevents the risk of

    testicular cancer in males and

    uterus infections and cancers in

    females.

    3. In male dogs & cats, neutering

    can reduce urine marking and

    roaming.

    4. Animals don’t respect family relationships - siblings will

mate. This increases the risk of offspring with birth

    defects and deformities.

    5. Neutering animals can reduce the risk of them being

    stolen for breeding.

    6. Cats can start having kittens at just 5 months old, this

is extremely dangerous for their health at such a young

age. One un-neutered cat can have 20,000 descendants in

just 5 years time! Please do the responsible thing and

    neuter your pet ASAP.

If you live within our branch area and would like to

neuter your pet but are concerned about the costs,

please contact us first as we may be able to offer some

financial assistance. This is a time limited offer, give us a

call on the branch line at weekends or send us an email

at any time. We can also help to neuter rabbits too.

    DOGS DIE IN HOT CARS..

During the summer months we receive lots of contact

from members of the public who are concerned for dogs

that have been left alone in a car when the weather is

warm. Dog owners; Please be aware that this is very

dangerous for a dog—even if you leave a window open

your car can become as hot as an oven very quickly. In an

emergency please dial 999 to report the incident to the

police, they can then contact the RSPCA inspectors if

needed. You can also find further information by

searching for ‘dogs die in hot cars’ online.

    CAT OR DOG FOSTERING..

We have some very special volunteers

who offer foster homes for our pets,

giving them a healthy, safe, loving

home until we can find that pet their

    own forever home. Fostering an

    abandoned, abused or mistreated pet

is a very rewarding and satisfying

thing to do. We cover all costs so all

you need to provide is your love, time

and attention. We are hoping to add

to our wonderful list of local foster

carers. If this is something that you

would like to learn more about then

please do contact us today for an

informal chat. We would love to help

as many abandoned animals as we

can but we really need your help.

Please read the wording below which

was kindly sent to us from on of our

    current fosterers..

‘I have fostered quite a few cats for

the branch and I do find it very

rewarding. The branch covers any vet

bills as they happen and I’m more

than happy to take the cats along to

the vets for check-ups or boosters

etc. It’s surprising how quickly you get

attached to the animal you are

looking after and on many occasions I

have had a little tear in my eye when I

have waved them off to their new

homes. It gives me great pleasure to

see how the cats come along when in

foster care, I remember one cat I was

    looking after took residence behind

my sofa for the first few days but in

the end he turned into the softest,

attention seeking cat I’ve ever met! I

love seeing the pictures of them

settled into their new homes and

being able to feel that I’ve played

some part in that feels absolutely

    fantastic.’

Sheldon is a lovely 5-year-old boy who is now in our branch care and looking for a new home. He was signed over to us as his owner had to move in with family and sadly couldn’t keep him as the resident elderly cats reacted badly to him. Poor Sheldon has now had three homes in his life through no fault of his own and really needs to find that ‘forever home’ this time. Sheldon really likes the quiet life (a home with no children is a must) he also likes to come to you for attention when he is ready—like most cats do! Once he is settled with you he will happily come over for a fuss and likes his ears and head to be stroked. Sheldon is looking for a nice quiet home with an owner who appreciates that he needs time to settle in his own time but once he has he will be a lovely pal for someone. Sheldon is now with one of our cat fosterers and here is what they have said about him so far..

'Sheldon is a really adorable and affectionate little boy. I expected him take to take a while to come

around but within less than two days he came to me for a fuss and sat on my knee, he keeps coming

now for a fuss and attention. He can be a little jumpy (hence no children) but he is very sweet. He

loves his scratching post and almost pole dances round them, he is so funny to watch. He is really

missing being able to go outside and play so the sooner he finds his forever home the better.

Sheldon really is a lovely cat for the right person. Please give him the chance to know what a loving

forever home is really like and arrange to come and view him soon.’
