Orange safety flame: We call this the safety flame because you can see this flame and if you walk past it then you wont get burnt.

Blue roaring flame: You cannot see this flame, also it makes a roaring noise. It is more hotter than the orange safety flame!

To change the flame from safety flame to blue roaring flame or the other way round you have to twist the airports round and then the flame will change.

Bunsen Burners are dangerous so please follow this safety rules!

• Before connecting the pipe, to the gas pipe on the bench make sure it is off, you will know it is off because when it is on it makes a hissing noise.

• Do not touch the flame as it is extremely hot!

• Do not pour water onto the Bunsen Burner!

• Change the flame to orange safety flame when the teacher is talking!

• Wear goggles!

• If putting equipment over the Bunsen Burner such as a Tripod make sure the Bunsen is off then turn it on after placing it correctly!

Now you know everything about a Bunsen Burner you need to know how to make it work!

1. Connect a rubber pipe to the gas pipe connected to the science bench.

2. Connect the other side of the rubber pipe to the gas inlet connected to the Bunsen burner.

3. Turn the switch round on the gas pipe on the bench to make it work.

4. The Bunsen Burner should come on if you cant see the flame turn the airports so the orange safety flame is on.
