Creating a Nation Gaming UnitEssential Content Objectives (Knowledge):
• Be able to explain the strengths and weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation
• Be able to explain how the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation lead to the creation of the US Constitution
• Be able to explain the 3 branches of the federal government, their role, and their role in the checks and balances system
• Be able to articulate and explain each of the 1st ten amendments listed in the Bill of Rights

Be able to articulate the contributions of the 1st
five presidents of the United States• Be able to articulate and explain the debate between Thomas Jefferson, leader of the Democratic-Republican Party, and
Alexander Hamilton, leader of the Federalist Party
• Be able to analyzeEssential Skill Objectives (Skills):
● Students will be critical analyze sources and information given to them● Students will be asked questions as to which leader or party’s views they prefer and be asked to articulate their preference● Students will be able to analyze alternate perspectives and to articulate their opinions of a subject/leader/event and how it fits
in with this alternative perspective
Unit Requirements:
● Students must achieve level 4 in at least 2 categories.● Students must achieve level 3 in the 2 of the remaining categories.
● BONUS LEVELS: These are worth 20 points of extra credit (Participation grade) each but may only be completed after you
have completed the levels necessary to do quality work on the quilting squares (see Mr. Irwin with questions)
Grading System
● Level Point Totals:
○ Level 1: 10 points each (part of ISN grade = Participation grade = 30% of your final grade)
○ Level 2: 20 points each (part of ISN grade = Participation grade = 30% of your final grade)
○ Level 3: 40 points each (Homework grade = 15% of your final grade)
○ Level 4: 100 points each (Project grade = 40% of your final grade)
Playing the Game
● You must beat level 1 before you progress to level 2 and level 2 before level 3, and so on and so on.
● A change from the last time we played the game is that you will have to come and show Mr. Irwin
that you have completed a level and then he will give you the next assignment that you want to
work on
● You are encouraged to ask Mr. Irwin for help whenever needed and you may also collaborate with your fellow students as
well, THIS IS NOT AN INVITATION TO COPY/CHEAT, ANY COPYING WILL RESULT IN A ZERO.
● You are encouraged to use the calendar and checklist that you were given to keep track of the assignments that you need tocomplete and have already completed
