Highlights

BioClus was a major project in which the participants jointly prepared regional biomass related R&D agendas and joint action plans for five European regions. The project provided useful analyses on biomass resources and the related R&D&I capacities for regional research driven clusters, supported regional strategic collaboration and improved the innovation environment. BioClus strengthened capacities and cooperation in and between biomass related research driven clusters.

Jyväskylä Security Technology, JYVSECTEC, develops and maintains a cyber-security infrastructure, which produces development, testing and training services for their co-operation network.

families 24/7

Since contextual factors, such as the availability of child care, have an impact on families, Families 24/7 has compared parents working non-standard hours in Finland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. In the survey we gathered information about work vs. family reconciliation, working time practices, parenting and child well-being.

Sport Business School students carry out research projects at various sports events e.g. the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil, the WRC Neste Rally in Finland and The 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, in Russia.

paper Machine school in China 

JAMK has organised training in paper machine technology for Metso Paper personnel since 1990, firstly in Finland and from 2008 also in China. The training is targeted at the Chinese middle management. School graduates have the opportunity to take advanced studies in process engineering, automation and maintenance.

China: The educational cooperation with Chinese institutions has developed in a variety of areas including: joint research and development in health and well-being promotion with Peking Union Medical College Hospital, expertise exchange of nursing lecturers and undergraduates with Shaoxing University and a long-term educational collaboration programme, including joint curriculum and pedagogic development, as well as educational cooperation in nursing education with Beihua University.

Egypt: JAMK supports development of the entire education system in Egypt by strengthening the national educational accreditation organisation NAQAAE. This nationwide development work is a Twinning project funded by the European Union, and implemented in cooperation with Germany.

Kazakhstan: JAMK has developed nursing education in cooperation with Ministry of Public Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as with medical colleges and universities in the country. The local teaching personnel have been supervised in curriculum work using new pedagogical and e-learning methods and introduced to the latest knowledge of Finnish primary health care. Health care professionals have taken part in intensive educational programmes and master classes.

Saudi-Arabia: We have started cooperation with Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) in Saudi-Arabia. As a result a three-month professional training programme was organised in Finland for Saudi teachers to develop their pedagogical skills. A two-week career guidance and counselling programme was arranged for the TVTC heads, supervisors and guidance practitioners in Saudi-Arabia.

Nepal: The Training of Trainers for Teacher Qualification Upgrading Programme is a HEI ICI project supporting the quality of Nepali teacher education. JAMK facilitates Tribhuvan University in developing an open and distance learning study model. Our experts educate local Teacher Trainers and ICTE Experts to implement a qualification upgrading programme for 13,000 Nepalese teachers.

West Balkans: JAMK was chosen to develop the vocational education and training (VET) in the West Balkans by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. ”Improvement of Pedagogical Skills of VET Teachers and Leadership & Management Skills of Principals in Kosovo and Macedonia” was implemented in cooperation with local universities. The tailor-made programme focused on working-life cooperation. The beneficiaries included individuals and the whole VET education system.

Vietnam: JAMK has developed educational structures, management and pedagogical skills in Vietnam since the 1990s. Our closest partners are from Quang Tri’s Teacher Training College, Hue University and Technical University in Ho Chi Minh City. The latest project builds open learning opportunities by developing pedagogical methods and learning facilities.

JAMK Summer Schools: The International Summer Schools are intensive study tracks designed to challenge and inspire both bachelor and master level students from partner universities all over the world. They attract over 100 participants every year.

Russia: We have provided in-service training programmes for principals and management personnel for schools in Kaluga area in Russia. The programmes included seminar weeks in Finland as well as in Russia and concentrated on central themes of leadership in school organisations.

JAMK is a member of the MOC network developed by Professor Michael Porter at Harvard Business School’s Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness. The network includes 98 universities and 32 centres for competitiveness, like JAMK, from around the world. JAMK will harness the knowledge of the network for the benefit of business leaders and policy makers in Finland.

JAMK offers Latin American Business Studies in English (30 ECTS) to its partner universities at UADE University in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The main focus of studies is the Latin American market and business environment and business Spanish. The programme is available for the students of business, engineering and tourism at higher education institutions.

JAMK and San José State University in Silicon Valley, USA, offer the opportunity to complete a special business study master’s level programme (5 ECTS). It focuses on the business practices of the Silicon Valley and San Francisco Bay area. Silicon Valley is a unique environment with an innovation ecosystem emphasising entrepreneurship. JAMK is developing its entrepreneurial studies in co-operation with San José State University.
