crude pipeline asset integrity congress 2014
DESCRIPTION
With the continual emergence of new shale plays across the US, crude production has continued to soar and crude takeaway capacity with it. More than 18,000 miles of liquid petroleum pipelines now traverse the United States. As Pipeline operators continue to build more and more assets to handle the increasing volumes of crude needed to be taken to market, it has become imperative to maintain the highest level of pipeline integrity to eliminate the risk of hazardous leaks and avoid the enormous costs associated with repairing and operating these vast networks of crude pipelines and aging infrastructure. In the past, a lot of emphasis has been placed on corrosion in isolation. However, as pipeline infrastructure continues to grow at this rapid pace, what is needed now more than ever is an integrated approach to asset integrity. Operator's need to develop a comprehensive pipeline integrity strategy, from start to finish, to time-and-cost-effectively identify, assess and mitigate corrosive damages to the pipe. Encompassing not just the corrosion control aspect of it but the inspection drive, chemical treatment plans, facility management, repair methodologies, coating selection and AC mitigation. With the emergence of several new technologies for pipeline maintenance, there has not been enough information sharing between pipeline operators to date, on what has been the most effective in managing corrosion and preserving the life and safety of a pipeline. So for the first time, leading pipeline operators will be gathering at the upcoming Crude Pipeline Asset Integrity Congress 2014 to deliver detailed case studies on best practices for: • PIPELINE ASSESSMENT • PIPELINE TREATMENT • AC CORROSION • FACILITY INTEGRITY MANAGEMENT • COATING TECHNIQUES • PIPELINE REPAIR TECHNOLOGIES • DATA ANALYSIS & INTEGRATIONTRANSCRIPT

However, as pipeline infrastructure continues to grow
at this rapid pace, what is needed now more than ever is an integrated approach to asset integrity.
Operator’s need to develop a comprehensive pipeline integrity strategy, from start to finish, to time-and-cost-effectively identify, assess and mitigate corrosive damages to the pipe.
Encompassing not just the corrosion control aspect of it but the inspection drive, chemical treatment plans, facility management, repair methodologies, coating selection and AC mitigation. With the emergence of several new technologies for pipeline maintenance, there has not been enough information sharing between pipeline operators to date, on what has been the most effective in managing corrosion and preserving the life and safety
of a pipeline. So for the first time, leading pipeline operators will be gathering at the upcoming Crude Pipeline Asset Integrity Congress 2014 to deliver detailed case studies on best practices for:
PIPELINE ASSESSMENTPIPELINE TREATMENT
AC CORROSIONFACILITY INTEGRITY MANAGEMENT
COATING TECHNIQUESPIPELINE REPAIR
DATA ANALYSIS & INTEGRATION
With the emergence of several new technologies for pipeline maintenance, there has not been enough information sharing between pipeline operators to date, on what has been the most effective in managing corrosion and preserving the life and safety of a pipeline.
The day will start with practical case studies on how operators
have optimized the main pipeline integrity plan, following on
with discussions on the impact of different crude quality’s coming
out of new shale plays and risk determination on aged pipeline
infrastructure. We will then see a detailed analysis of different pipeline
assessment tools including B Scan, BSI Array, Insitu Testing
Technologies, MFL and UT Tools and probes and sensors. We
will then examine how strategies for implementing the optimum
smart pig program to optimize pipeline cleaning. Finally, operators
will showcase how they are selecting chemical treatments to work
effectively with maintenance pigging programs.
Will start by identifying effective assessment and mitigation
techniques for AC Interference to prevent holes in the pipe. It
will then explore how pipeline operator’s are treating corrosion
in the facilities to prevent it from spreading into the main
pipeline system. The agenda will then look at evaluating different
coating techniques that have proven successful in reducing
pipeline failure which will be followed by looking at latest non-
welded pipeline repair methods. The day will conclude with a
discussion on best practices for integrating data to standardize
information gathering and analysis.
WHAT MAKES THIS EVENT UNIQUE?
