Thank you to the families who are supporting our second semester mission project. As you know, the children’s Sunday envelope contributions are supporting this mission project. As of 21st, donations for Eye Witness for Life total $1,159.96, which includes $659.15 from the Bake Sale and Valentine’s project. Thanks you!

Women’s Bible study (“RIBS”): Now is a great time to join us because we are starting a new study, Coffee With The Savior by Kristen Myers. This book will help you see Jesus as your best Friend as you discover the many ways He shares our burdens, forgives our wrongdoing, and redeems us forever. Pick up a copy of the book and join us on Wednesday mornings from 8:30 to 10:00 in the Fellowship Hall (in the church basement). Fellowship begins at 8:00, childcare is available, and the coffee is provided. Contact Monica Gnat at [email protected] or (414) 774-6180 for more information.

Parents’ Preview The Parents’ Preview highlights an aspect of next week’s

service: a liturgical song, a Psalm refrain, or a hymn stanza.

Our hope and prayer is that parents will teach this portion of the

service to their children at home during the week so that

children can participate more fully in the worship service.

Parents’ Preview for February 28

Kyrie (Lord, Have Mercy) The Kyrie is sung between

the confession of sins and the absolution. It is a penitential plea

for forgiveness to the triune God.

Concessions at the Journal Sentinel Sports Show at State Fair Park, March 4th-6th Are you new to our school and or church? Are

you interested in getting to know a few more

people from St. John's and working together

for a common goal?

St. John's will be staffing a concession stand at State Fair Park for the Journal Sentinel Sports Show, Friday to Sunday, March 4th-6th. (NO PREVIOUS TRAINING REQUIRED!). The hours are as follows:

Friday, 3/4, (Show time Noon-9pm). We will need 7 workers from 11am-9pm.

Saturday, 3/5 (Show time 10am-9pm). We will need to staff 9 people starting at 9am. It will be VERY BUSY up to about 8pm!

Sunday, 3/6 (Show time 10am-6pm). We will need to staff 9 people starting at 9am.

This has proven to be a great earnings opportunity for St. John's. Last year we earned $4101.97 on this weekend – let’s see if we can top that! So check your schedules and join us for some fun and fellowship! If you are available to help for a half day, great! If you are only available to help for a couple of hours, that would be greatly appreciated also!! Call/text (414-217-7170) or

email ([email protected] or

[email protected]). This is only a week away and we look

forward to having you join us! Please let me know your initial thoughts

asap as to when you might be available to help. I would like to put together an initial schedule by this Saturday/Sunday, so that

we know exactly where we need additional volunteers. Also, if you know others who

might be interested in helping, let me know. We can accommodate the craziest of schedules!!

State Tax Deduction for Private School Tuition The state of Wisconsin allows you to deduct your tuition for our school using Schedule PS. This savings is not just for those who itemize. To make use of this deduction you will need the Federal ID number of St. John’s. Please contact the school or church office to obtain this number.

2016 Miller Park Training

If you are interested in helping with concessions at Miller Park during the 2016 season (this is our 16th season at Miller Park), upcoming training sessions are listed below (Email: [email protected] or [email protected] to sign up.) I do need to RSVP to Sportservice in advance, and training sessions are limited and will fill up. THERE ARE ONLY 4 MORE TRAINING SESSIONS AVAILABLE BEFORE WE START OUR VOLUNTEER SEASON, so please check your schedules and contact me if you have any questions. We will be doing All of the home games in April and June, with a few Dollar Hot Dog Days added in May. (These are huge commission days for us!!) I am sorry to say that online training IS NOT an option this year. Hopefully the glitches will be worked out and maybe we will see it back in future years. All volunteers, new and returning, are required to attend one of the training sessions at Miller Park. Please check your schedule to see which of the following trainings will work best for you. Some of the dates/times will fill up quickly so it is best to sign up early. You can always reschedule if your original date doesn’t work out. (Please sign up early, because when

any session is full, we can’t sneak you in!) Upcoming training dates at Miller Park (6pm) are as follows:

Monday Feb. 29th Lisa Thompson Friday March 11th Brenda Denk Monday March 14th Ginger Konkol Thursday March 17th Monday April 11th Jenny Lindert Thursday April 14th Tuesday May 10th Wednesday May 25th Thank you to the volunteers who have already completed training: Dawn, Marsh, Barb, Jim, Jes, Jon, Jody, JoAnn, Morgan, Matt, Craig, Jan, Brian, Dawn, and Jessica. and to the volunteers who have signed up for training thus far. IN STOCK: ($10 cards): Buffalo Wild Wings, Bruegger's, Boston Market, Cousins, Domino's, Subway, Kohl's, Bath & Body Works, and more! ($25 cards): AMC, GameStop, Home Depot, Menard's, Gap/Old Navy, TJMAXX/Marshall's, Target, Walmart, Chili's, Olive Garden, Texas Roadhouse, Sports Authority, Roundy's, BP, Speedway, and more!

“Kohls Cares for Kids” Gift Cards For those of you who shop at Kohls, please keep in mind that you can pay your Kohls Credit card bill with the Kohls Cares for Kids gift cards purchased here at school. This way you are supporting St. John’s each time you pay your bill or shop at Kohls. (And for those of you who are wondering, yes, Kohls is the only store that you use the gift cards to pay your bill….I double checked!)

Community Café Families of students in Grades 1-4 will be gathering this evening for St. John's Community Café for a presentation and refreshments. We will be showcasing their Social Studies projects from this quarter. These projects will remain on display in the mid-level hallway and commons area tomorrow. Please feel free to stop and see them when you drop-off or pickup your children on Friday. Thank you to the students for doing such a great job with their projects.

K3 News We have just begun our study of reptiles. The children were quite excited to see a desert habitat in our classroom for this new animal group. Mrs. Gaub from Nature in the Parks dropped by our classroom this week with a presentation called “Frog Mystery.” It was a hit with the children! Thanks Mrs. Gaub! Our art work for the hallway is about to change. We will soon have ponds on the walls and many creatures lurking in the water. Come check it out! Our Bible lesson was about how Jesus came to save all people, no matter how they have sinned. Jesus helped Zacchaeus by loving him when others didn’t and forgiving his sins. Zaccheus showed his faith in Jesus and his thankfulness to Jesus by giving back what he had taken from the people of Jericho. How comforting it is to know that Jesus loves and forgives sinners! Because we believe in Jesus we will want to show it to others by freely serving Him out of thankfulness for all he has done for us.
