National Angkasawan Programme:
Soyuz TMA-11 was launched to space on October 10th, 2007
and Soyuz TMA-10 landed on Earth on October 21st, 2007.
HDPCG (High Density Protein Crystal Growth)
was used for protein crystallization in space
with T1 lipase was used as model protein.
Ground crystal of T1 lipase was compared
with its space crystal.
Top: T1 lipase space crystal (1.35 Å). Microgravity
crystallization produces better electron density
map thus an improved protein structure for better
understanding.
Top: T1 lipase ground crystal (1.7 Å). Poor electron density map.
