TRANSCRIPT

• Overall Goal:

– Inspire educators to think about integrating technology into their classrooms

• Audience:

– K-5 licensed elementary school teachers

• Message:

– Technology in education is a vital tool to help students learn in today’s society

Design #1

Revised Design

• Redesign Elements:

– Wanted a completely different feel

– Shifted focus to promoting students wants & needs in the classroom

– Use of infographic to show statistics

– Emphasized the idea of students “wanting more”

Proximity & Alignment

• Proximity:

– Professional look but a bit too text-centric

– Chunked body text

• Images directly correspond with text to the right

• Alignment:

– Left-alignment

• Alignment was the most difficult for me to try!

• Text aligned to left, tracking the eyes to the left of the design overall

Repetition & Contrast

• Repetition:

– Repeating font and colors

– Repeating checkmark sign, tied in to the bottom right text

• Contrast:

– Contrast shown with colors

• High contrast & emphasis created with bright red

• Eyes were drawn to the title and subheadings because of color specifically

Color & Style

• Color Schemes:– Complementary

• Blue created high contrast against black & white

– Triadic • Had a very distinct look; my favorite one!

– Analogous • Difficult to distinguish colors in this scheme

• Style:– “Youthful” / “Fun”

• Softer typeface

• Young graphics (stars)

Typography

• Typography: (from left to right)

– Oldstyle & Script

• Simple yet formal feel– Size, form

– Decorative & Modern

• Fun and more K-5 classroom feel– Size, weight, form, direction

– Oldstyle & Decorative

• Color emphasized key words

• Used typefaces that enhanced the words themselves– Size, form, structure, color

Final Design

• Final Design Changes:

– Monochromatic color scheme

– Proximity of buzz words to corresponding image

– Fully center-aligned design

– Repetition of typefaces

– Contrasts of color, weight, and form

– Two types of complementary fonts used
